JAEGER -LECOULTRE Clock…?
Moving my mom from independent living to assisted living and have this clock.
I’m not sure how old it or how to date it, but it seems like it’s been around forever. Any value (to the right person)? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes for sure. Atmos clocks are classic and very sought after (and super cool IMHO). There are many different variations over the years so you should check sold listings on ebay for your model. I can tell its probably pretty common because it is a variety I have seen several times. Prices from $500 to many thousands.
THey are also fragile so be careful moving it around and make sure it works completely. Powered by changes in atmospheric pressure which I think is really cool

Don’t mess with it till you’ve identified it and learned how to handle it. Start here:

Why are the books upside down? Is there an emergency at her house?

My best guess is it is a model from the late 1970s, with a 528–8 movement. It might be earlier, I can’t read the serial number.
If it runs well, at least $800. More, if it’s earlier or in exceptional condition and has all the original paperwork. Learn how to lock the pendulum before this is even moved, as noted earlier these are extremely delicate. |

There is no paperwork, that I know of. It looks immaculate.
I have in a box securely to drive back to Charleston from Atlanta. When I get a chance, I’ll see if I can find some serial numbers or something. I also grabbed this Bulova watch. Looks pretty beat up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My cousin may be interested in the clock.
He is a classically trained watchmaker and JAEGER -LECOULTRE is the main brand he works on. Odds are pretty high that if you had a watch and sent it in for service he'd be the one touching it. Let me ask him if he wants it or if not at least give you an idea on value. The Bulova is a Quartz movement. Probably not worth much at all.

Value? - No idea but that is something I would not sell. Please take my advice, if you decide to keep it you'll be glad that you did.

If you start googling to try and get a ball park note there are some variants where the ATMOS is not below the 12. Don't know if it matters or not. They seem to be all over the place, between $700-$4,500 on the high end. $2k seems to be the middle ground and as mentioned, condition, paperwork, original box all add to the value. Good luck with moving mom.

The clock I’m going to hold onto. Little Rocket man is into clocks and watches.
We left the curio cabinet with a lot of German Hummel figurines and some Waterford Crystal. My mom got to figurines when she visited my dad in Germany in the early 50s. They may be collectible, but I didn’t think they had much value. Unless somebody says otherwise, we have the movers coming to clean out her old place. They try to donate pieces worth money and trash the rest of it. I did take some of the Waterford pieces and will post pictures tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I used to have one. I contacted the manufacturer with the serial number and they gave me all the details on it. As others have pointed out it is critical to lock the pendulum before moving. Probably the lever on the lower right.

It’s locked. I had to pull off the highway to confirm.

Bueno, that’s good news. You should be able to find the serial number in the area that I’ve circled in red and look it up on that site that I linked earlier. It will confirm what movement is in it, and give you a pretty good idea of about when it was made.

The clock serial number 599475. Looks like 1980 with the late serial number.
