What's Your Side Hustle

Not thinking about day job hustles but in any money making activities people up to in their spare time or to boost their retirement income

I've only ever had the one as since working after graduating I've never had enough spare time but during my internship I bought worn out racing slick tyres from F3 teams. Then sold them on to grass track racers who used them for a once a year tarmac race weekend. The over a 100% profit helped supplement my meagre salary

Hoping this get interesting..... thanks to cockerpunk for this thread topic

I just helped a friend sell a bike he was given on Craig's List. Took the pictures and wrote the ad for him as he's pretty much computer illiterate. [He just turned 80 on Tuesday]

I sell old motorcycle parts on ebay to fund my classic bike habit.

I’m an engineer and I have cows… and they are a pain in the ass.

I play my guitar in seedy bars and flip gear on eBay and Reverb.

Two things:

I restore and sell vintage Japanese motorcycles.

I am a trial consultant. In a previous life I was a trial attorney. I get hired by defense attorneys that either have a high profile criminal trial or they’re representing a defendant in a complicated drug or murder case and they don’t have a lot of experience. I help them with everything from picking a jury to crafting their closing argument.

After Grandma passed away I rehabbed her (ours) guesthouse and decided to try AirB&B. We got our first booking. A young couple from Italy. They booked it for a month. $2000 extra. Of course we have to pay utilities but still. Time will tell.

Don’t horn in on my money making scheme. Pay for posts is great! ;)

Actually my regular business is my side hustle.

Been buying, rehabbing, renting and selling real estate since the early 1990’s.

Good news? I don’t do most of the crap work now.

I hear them called your 5-9 job, instead of your 9-5 job.

I make telescopes better.

I used to clean banks as my second job at night. I could do it any time between 5PM when they closed and 9AM when they opened again...or anytime on weekend after Friday closing (before Monday open). It gave me a lot of flexibility for my other side hustles and school (went full time at night) ...as I could go in after midnight and get it done before I had to go to my main job at 6AM.

My side hustle name is Gator, and they better use jimmies or Gator gets mad.

No side jobs. But a lot of DIY. There is no better way to make money. As a DIYer you don't just save the money you would have to pay someone for a task, but you are also able to buy things for cheap that others couldn't. Such as a high mileage car, or an older appliance, or a bicycle that needs a little work. And when you sell something, you can get it into good shape and get top dollar, where others just throw it on the curb, trade it in or bring it to Goodwill.

Once I am no longer holding down a full time job, I am sure I will have hobbies that produce some cash. But likely it will be break even at best. Otherwise it wouldn't be called a hobby!
