Totally agree, the older 911 systems are the best. Infinitely adjustable to dial it in perfect for any scenario! I don't like when there are only 3 or 4 options, none of which seem to be ideal.

When I was a kid I put one of those JC Whitney intermittent wiper rheostats on my 64 Buick; also infinitely adjustable, and until I had the 911, there was not a better intermittent on any car I drove.

I once had a Lemons stint in an '83 El Camino without windshield wipers where rain was coming in. As I was entering the track the grid worker asked me what I'd do if it started raining. "Go faster", I said, "and give up if it's too much." He bought it and off I went. Sure enough it rained but that rainx actually did a really good job keeping my vision clear, and I had a great time drifting around the track and passing man-babies scared to push in the rain. :D

2016 Civic rain sensor wipers are useless…have a mind of their own that is unrelated to how hard it’s raining…would rather have intermittent. Civic replaced a 2002 Passat that had rain sensor that worked great.

Haha, yeah, haven't had any parts fall off the car yet, Lol. It is fun doing the figure 8s on the skid pad and the roll booth is a blast where ya get the car up to 70mph sitting still on roller/drums, then check the brakes, it can be a bit of a wild ride sometimes. Lol.

Okay, reading it again, it was more than a bit so ...

I didn't really mean to impart that the features don't work as designed, but rather that mother nature sends rain down from the heavens sporadically enough as to make using the mister a better option more often than not.

I confess, I use that feature, unlabeled as it is on my current rides, when the slowest interval on the intermittent wipers is too frequent.

Yes in San Diego use wipers intermittently mostly only one or two months a year.

Listen to the experts in Western Washington. We have dozens of different kinds of rain, ranging from raindrops too small to see, up to drops the size of gummy bears.

The slowest intermittent setting in my '78 911 is VERY VERY slow.

And I will offer this tip: Rain-X really can eliminate the need for wipers at all. The trick is the polishing. I used to use a slightly damp paper towel, as allowed in instructions, but then found the FAR superior performance of a microfiber towel for the important polishing step. Available in many stores, for automobile use. Properly polished, a Rain-X'd windshield rejects, at 30 mph, every drop larger than a poppy seed.

I have a car wash membership. The carwash at this level includes Rain-X on the windshield.

My former boss, long ago had a really nice 1982 924. It had some weird issue with the wipers, and every once in a while at random the wipers would make a singe pass.

He was a world class BSer, and when passengers would react to the wipers running a single pass on a sunny day he would tell them that Porsches have automatic moisture sensing wipers and it likely saw a speck of water from a bug or something. They were all impressed, and in the early 1980s automatic rain sensing wipers were a thing of science fiction, and major BS from teller of tall tails.

I use intermittent a lot more than the constant.
It always seems to be drizzling.
