The "intermittent" rain sensing wipers on my C-class Mercedes work great. That is my default wiper setting. However it is a bit disconcerting because the interval can vary so much from one wiper cycle to the next.
My wife's grocery-getter has an adjustable-speed intermittent mode and I do use it when driving that car, but I find myself fiddling with the rate setting. |

Right, it's rare for me to put the wipers into any of the "full-on" settings vs intermittent

I use the intermittent setting for the wipers quite a bit.
When my BMW's wipers are in normal operation, they'll automatically kick down to intermittent mode when the car comes to a stop, like at a traffic light, then resume the selected speed once the car starts moving again. I don't like the wipers beating back & forth in a frenzy while I'm sitting still...especially if I'm running them at a higher speed in heavier rain. On a related note, I always see people driving around in a light drizzle with their wipers going at warp speed, even while stopped at a traffic light. At best, the conditions might require one wipe every 15-20 sec or so. What do these people do when it rains a little harder? "Sorry, no driving today, can't make the wipers go fast enough"

I really like the SC's intermittent wiper setup. Being able to change the frequency of the wipes is great.
