With the advent of the new Hypercars, there is no room on track or in the pits. IMSA has already deleted the LMP3 cars for next year to make room.

The GT category will be GT3 cars starting next year in WEC/IMSA/Le Mans. GM will run their Corvette and they could easily build GT3 Camaros if they wanted to actually race on equal footing. The G56 car is 'boob bait for the bubbas' :D

GM will have a GT3 corvette next year.

2024 will be the end of the Camaro. I am wondering what they will race in NASCAR 2025 ??

So because the car is so different / superior from everything else, they shouldn't let it race? You cant 'tolerate' it? Good thing nobody thought this way back when Porsche was campaigning the 917...

They plan on grandfathering it.

But in 3 to 5 years the field is going to look very different. They may be a bit worried.

Same for the Ferrari or any other. If it's a car, let it run.

Well you’re asking why they don’t run against each other and I answered.

The bigger difference is Ferrari only sold street cars to subsidize his racing program. Hudson was racing cars to sell street cars.

The only run what you brung races are Saturday night at your local dirt track.

They show the car on track with other car and it looks HUGE, The car was on display at the Rolex and I'll post my photos of it tonight.

As promised..

The Camaro team wins LeMans!!!!

One staple of the NASCAR pit stop that was carried to Circuit de la Sarthe was the manual jack. The Hendrick crew was the only one to utilize the manual jack. All other teams have air jacks at their disposal.

Without an air jack, the Garage 56 car was afforded an extra crew member, the jackman, to lift the car up. Two tire carriers (as opposed to one in NASCAR), and two tire changers swapped the four Goodyear Racing Eagles in 10.364 seconds. It was the crew’s fastest stop of the day.

An old story from years ago by a friend, so dunno it's veracity..

A Lemans entrant called NASCAR's woods brothers, asking if they'd be interested in being a pit crew.
They responded they'd crew for anyone, what's the pay? Told the pay, they hung up..

That story might be true, but the Woods Bros. did work the pits for Ford in 1966, and helped Ford beat Ferrari. (1,2,3 sweep) So they must have been satisfied with the pay arrangements that year.

Fifth overall out of 62 teams is good if you ask me.

I bet they don't ride the wall :D

Chrysler's wing cars got relegated to a small block pretty quick.

Bobby Issac took his car to Bonneville Salt Flats when it got banned from Nascar, 217 two way average in like 1971, set a bunch of records

sorry about the jalopnik link

Can you imagine, drifting, at 200 MPH, on the salt :o

Huh?? The 'Cup Car' has 250 more horsepower than GTE cars - of course it's superior :D:D Build it to GTE specs and it's an also-ran. My problem is not that the car is fast (it should be!), it's that this is a blatant Barnum & Bailey type stunt to promote NASCAR in the middle of one of the most important races in the world. As a competitor, the last thing I would want is some clown car in its own class of one mixing it up with serious racing efforts. Hopefully they don't take anyone out or affect the outcome of the race.

How about we take a Porsche 963 - call it, umm, the Garage 56 963 - and enter it at the Tallageda NASCAR race? What is NASCAR afraid of :D

Does anyone know if Pratt & Miller are involved in any way ? I could see this as a data collection effort for the future Corvette GT3 effort .

Any chance Hendricks is looking to get into GT3 racing ? Regardless of the reason/s I look forward to see how they do . Solid team with solid drivers .

Toyota not happy with new safety car rules .

unclebilly 06-07-2023 05:15 AM

Curt - NASCAR is a spec series. 24 hours of Le Man’s is not. There are various classes with rules and there is a class for ‘experimental’ cars such as this.

It’s fast, yes, but will it hold together for 24 hours?

I’ve been endurance racing for the last 12 years. The high horsepower cars rarely finish. The key is minimal fast scheduled pit stops, and consistent laps.

I think this is great and hope to see more of this in years to come. Motorsports as we know it is dying. Read the thread on how old guys are killing Motorsports…

That was an excellent question. It would make perfect sense for P&M to jump on as a partner, right? I had to know, so I found this early article from Racer magazine and it states Action Express Racing and Dallara are helping with the effort - but it also mentions air jacks for pitting, and someone above says that they were using floor jacks in a pit stop challenge on this car.

My assumption was that NASCAR went looking for a partner and Hendricks had the resources to do it.
