why would that be a bad thing?

thats literally the point of garage 56.

and its already working. its all everyone is talking about re le mans.

Agree. The Deltawing was a Garage 56 car. In 1976 NASCAR was allowed to run 2 stock cars. Throwing something different in the mix is good for the sport.

I hope the G56 car kills it. If a Ford can go 24, then this car can. Will the door open? It should.

100%

garage 56 is a great way to showcase technology and platforms that the rules otherwise restrict and prevent. thats the point. thats what its for.

and it doesnt pervert the racing, because its its own class.

its a win-win IMO.

Captain Ahab Jr 06-07-2023 07:44 AM

Garage 56 is a novelty entry

No serious chance of doing anything notable other than an interesting side show to the main event

Isn’t that also how the hybrids came about? This video of the Cadillac leaving the pit box is pretty badass.

I can relate better with the Camaro silhouette than all the Prototype space ship shapes.
I will always prefer a 750hp V8 big banger to a science project hybrid ground gripping road rocket.
I'm a renascence racer not a NASA rocket racer. PS Not a Nascar oval race fan either.

Hybrid drivers will loose if they bangs doors and try to get physical with the big Camaro.

I think it's a mistake for anyone to under estimate the potential of this project . I don't follow Nascar but I do know Hendricks has $$$ , talent and expertise . They have 3 talented drivers and a very solid pit crew . They seem to be very focused .

What will be considered a win ? Lasting 24 hours ? Beating half the GT field ? Beating all of the GT field ? Beating back marker hyper cars ? I don't pretend to have the answer but looking forward to how it plays out .

Lemans Camaro, just a few turns.

Not much footage of the stock car but this was nice and close.

I wish this effort well. As rfuerst911sc said, there is a solid team behind this effort. They are in to kick butt. I think a win would be to complete the 24hrs. JJ is my concern in the cockpit.

I look forward to the eventual whining about this car during the race.

Zeke 06-07-2023 03:02 PM

Hell, if Dale Jr. can do endurance, JJ can too.

Yep . JJ sucked in Indy car and has sucked in Cup this year. Back in the day he was great. Then he wasn't and still isn't.

I think people make a mistake in underestimating NASCAR. It's not the Smokey Yunick era any more, and as mentioned above Hendricks is a top-shelf team who know how to put together a good entry. This isn't a straight-off-the-banking setup, either. Obviously it's set up for road racing.

porsche930dude 06-08-2023 03:44 PM

Thats pretty cool. Any car that makes engine noises is fine with me. I usually dont watch these sort of races though they are too boring because they just show the leaders the whole time. I really like seeing the oddball cars like I remember when spyker was racing it was really fun to follow but the booring prototypes got all the coverage.

Surprise!- Ferrari on the pole.

To finish first you first have to finish . Congrats to Ferrari getting the pole but let's see where everyone is after 24 hours .

Rumor has it they're using the F1 race tactics and communication teams this weekend.

OUCH! That's a cheap shot! But a good one. ;)

(2) points:

Reliability is what kills most new entries in the LeMans (or Daytona) 24 hour race. Speed is good, but keeping it running is even better.

It wasn't all that long ago that a racing-modified version of a US street car won its class at Le Mans 3 years in a row. It was the Viper GTS-R.

The way it should be done! Ford unveiled their awesome GT3 Mustang yesterday. Ford will compete at Le Mans next year - yes, actually compete in a class and built to the specifications of that class. No hocus-pocus, don't look behind the curtain BS
