How do you run into the back of a school bus?

Just saw it right after it happened ... Of course the big ol' yellow bus was fine and appeared to be stopped, or creeping... the truck appeared like it was probably going at least 45-50 mph based upon the damage... All in a "lane closed, utility work zone" with lots of advanced warning....

Yeah .... check his cell phone

Where there kids on the bus? I hope it was empty (probably other than the driver).

That's gonna leave a mark, and probably be very educational.

I knew a guy who hit a regional transit bus, on two separate occasions.

Pre-cell phone, Andre was a piece of work.

Back when I was a junior in high school, I was on a school bus and some fool ran a stop sign and totaled his pickup right into the side of the bus, just under where my feet were. The bus made a bit of a lurch, and the driver hit the brakes. It put a little dent in the bus, and the pickup was flattened.

It was a USAF blue school bus. I told the driver if he gets any grief to let me know as I was looking out the window, and saw the pickup driver not stop at the stop sign, blast right through like he was trying to hit us, and we were on a road with no stop and rolling at the 35 MPH speed limit.

I am sure now days they would have taken us all to the hospital and no student were even scared, it was a nothing burger accident for the passengers.

I don't think the school bus had kids on it.... but I was going in the opposite direction and gawking at the damaged truck while trying not to get rear ended myself .

As early as you posted, seems more likely to me that it was on the way to school.

Someone needs a refresher course in situational awareness.

Same way the guy who rear ended me totaled my car (and the two cars in front of me) - texting.
