"Taught him a lesson that he'll never remember."
I wouldn't call PU truck guy out of shape, I'd call him pretty solid looking. And a hook to the jaw from someone like that, especially when you didn't see it coming, will cause nap time more often than not. Old dudes like me are not going to challenge you to a bicycle race. We will try to drop someone as quickly as possible when threatened. And yeah, getting bent out of shape in traffic is really dumb but people continue to do it. There is something psychological that happens when people are driving that causes fear and aggression in people who would probably not behave the same way outside of their car. I've seen women and really wimpy dudes get really aggressive when driving. I drive 200 miles a day in the city when I'm driving Uber and if I let traffic or other drivers get me bent out of shape, I'd be a wreck. I just let them "win" and I drive gently around pedestrians and stopped vehicles. And lastly, yes it is very easy for someone to die from a knockout punch when their head hits pavement. Happens all the time and is tragic.

I pass people (safely) on a double yellow all the time.
I guess I better brush up on my left hook. The punch was provoked. Too bad about hitting his head.

He could have punched or shoved the guy just for getting in his face in an aggressive manner and been totally justified. Reasonable fear for your safety.

I don't think the guy on the ground was 'okay.' I'd strongly suggest he visit a doctor immediately. I'd be surprised if there is no concussion, based on how the back of his head hit the pavement from a height of five feet.
And nope, I am not going to get into a gently escalating pushing contest. You just never know what somebody is going to pull out of their pocket. I would not have stopped in the first place. I let idiots just "win" like Denis does. But in that face-to-face confrontation that turned physical, I'd have resolved to get it over quickly and with finality. Like Pickup Truck Guy did.

I lost a friend from a very innocent slip-n-fall with head meeting concrete. I never ever enjoy seeing someone hit their head like that on concrete or pavement.
Otherwise seems like a fool made a few foolish choices and the other participant addressed the foolish choices for better or worse. There's also plenty of vids out there where that left hook was a CCW but lets not get distracted.

Who da F wears spray-on pants like that? I’m surprised he could even walk in those.
If not for slapping the phone, his fashion choice alone earned him that tap on the chin.. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes I say. Dude had it coming, hope he learned a lesson.
