I Love French Toast!

Especially when it's bourbon barrel aged and 11.1% ABV
Here, it's normally $15 for a 4-pack...today at Meijers..$13

I don’t watch college football but I generally prefer an IPA.

I don’t like the higher alcohol beers like the one you show, and I also don’t like bourbon, so something aged in a bourbon barrel isn’t going to be on my list of things to drink.

This Founders French Toast is more of a sipping or dessert beer.
It certainly isn't a beer that I would buy a 4-pack and drink 3 at one sitting.

And I don't know how they do it with the ingredients listed....but it surely does smell and taste of french toast.

My guess would be they add flavorings, the vanilla, cinnamon and maple flavors that you see advertised on the packaging.

Someone told me the other day that the 'Old Bastard' on the 4-pack and bottle is a drawing of 'Popcorn Sutton"

Well, I had to look that one up. Never heard of the guy. Could be. Although… all old, bearded, white hillbillies look alike to me.

I’ll have to try it, seems interesting. Got tired of IPAs, they all have sour aftertaste and deposits.

I'm not sure where you are located...but their Taproom is in Grand Rapids. I've had this beer there a couple times, but I've only seen it once in a store. Meijer had it yesterday.
I eat at their Taproom occasionally. Great food and they always have new beers on tap that never make it to the stores.

So, if you have a Meijer...I would look there first.
It has a great flavor.

What exactly is a bourbon-barrel aged Scotch ale?

I'm no expert...but I believe they buy empty oak bourbon barrels and fill them with Scotch Ale. After a year or more, it's ready to be sold in bottles.
The bourbon flavor takes to the ale and makes for a great taste.

Use a shot glass for the 4-pack...it will last long time.

Yeah, they buy liquor barrels, wine barrels, all sorts of crap.

I’m in the “I like my beer to taste like beer” camp. And I won’t even touch half the beer styles out there.

My youngest kid will drink anything and enjoy most of it. Not me.

Hmmm, this one sounds interesting, I will have to try it! Not sure about the vanilla part, but I love bourbon and I love beer (most all styles) so I’ll definitely give this one a shot if I can find it.

^^^ At the first sip when I first tried it...It hit me how much flavor there is in it.
Very strong bourbon and syrupy. The vanilla flavor is combined with the cinnamon and maple to make a completely different flavor that I have ever had.

As I am a drinker, not a sipper, that would be a problem for me.

Just don’t sip anything. writing after I slammed my second cup of coffee this am.

^^^ I sip when it's a strong flavor.
Give me a weak watery beer and it's gone in half the time.

Yah, barrel-aged beers are like stouts and sours. There's such a range from "tasty" to "a$$". I won't even get one without a taste, and I'm usually (otherwise) a "16oz" taster.

Waaaay too many syrupy sweet oaky dark beers out there for me.

Luckily our local co-op is rocking some nice lagers and interesting juniper and a few apple-beers.
