A question for the collective...

How would you dispose of this wheel?
It came off my daughter's Suburban. I replaced it with a used like-new wheel before the truck was shipped back east. I didn't want my grandkids riding around with a wheel that could be compromised by the possible road salt/rain/snow they might encounter back there.
Here's a picture of the wheel in question:

It's not a major 'ding' as you can see, and a mounted tire still will hold air.
I was going to put it up on Craig's List but was not sure about the ramifications of selling something with a 'ding' like this.
What say you all?

Good luck with CL.
I've had an almost brand new Kumho tire for sale for $10 for a year now on CL.
Nobody seems to want a single tire.
(I would expect the same from a single wheel)

unless the pic makes it look better than it is, id say that wheel is fine.

THink there is no legal ramifications to selling with chip disclosed. Usually when I am clearing out stuff like this I post for free on the local neighborhood market place page.

Stuff disappears quickly this way, and if you arent charging anything you get to make all the rules. If the mounted tire is decent it could be worth a bit though

The picture is actually pretty life size.
I was thinking I'd take it to the recycling place to see what I'd get for it since it is aluminum. Big wheel, it weighs a bunch. If they'd take it I'd make sure it was in a non-op condition before giving it to them.
There is no tire on it either.

Bandsaw that thing straight down the diameter and voila! you've got a couple of of hose hangers.

I was thinking my daughter could use it as a spare but the mount under the truck wouldn't allow such a big wheel. The spare it comes with is a downsized rim with a tire that's smaller width wise but same height.

I thought of that too but it would only work up at my brother's place, not my wife's backyard.

Nothing wrong with the rim. Gouged on a curb or tire machine.

Is it actually bent or is that just the powder coat? If the powder coat it's prolly fine but it's your kid so maybe use it as a spare.

Maybe keep it as a spare. If a girl is driving the vehicle the front passenger side wheel will be worse than that in no time.

Ahh, yes. The braille method of curbside parking.

Local website says they pay 28 cents per lb for aluminum scrap. Probably 35ish lbs i would think.

In LA there are likely any number of wheel repair places. Take it to one or more and ask what they think and how much to repair or they might say it is fine to leave as is.

Thanks guys. I know the wheel is fine as is, my daughter had a new Michelin mounted on it. They had no problem balancing it etc so it must be straight or she would have said something to me about it.
I guess I'll give C-List a try to see if someone could use it as a spare.
I'm not going to have it repaired. I did think of using some JB weld to build up the ding but that might ruin it for someone else.
When it happened, I was surprised that the tire was really destroyed but the rim didn't appear to suffer all that much damage.
