Another what is this…
![]() Not a very good picture but it’s a white disk stuck on the dash of my buddy’s new to him boat. It is attached to a wire that goes behind the dash. The boat broker said he had no idea. The boat is a 2022 with only 50 hours on it so whatever it is can’t be that old. Looks similar to a phone charger I have on my dresser but there’s no way you’d lay anything on it, it’s mounted vertically. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Huh? Your phone doesn’t have to be laying on it? Charges your phone while it’s in your pocket? A phone can’t be laid on this. It has a wire coming out of the top of the dash and is mounted vertically on the face of the dash.

How big around is the disk? We have no reference of size. If it's ~1" then it's a charger for an apple watch. They are magnetic. If it's larger, then I'm going to say it's an antenna, assuming there's no surface close enough to lay it horizontally. Is the outward surface tacky feeling? Is it magnetic? Maybe a half of a magnetic phone mount, the other part being attached to the back of the phone or a phone case, and allows charging.

Ding ding ding. Thank you, I believe you’re correct…magnetic phone charger…just googled that. Apparently there’s a slim magnet that attaches to the back of your phone. Thanks guys!
