"The Peripheral" on Amazon, watch it?

Anyone watch/watched it? I watched the first three episodes tonight, and was pleasantly surprised.

Did you like it? Does it get better or fizzle out?

What say you?

I really liked it. It's based on a book of the same name by William Gibson, a very highly regarded science fiction writer (some say the best of our time). You go through the first episode, like "Okay, interesting." Then the second episode blows you away. When it goes to 2099 London, it's impressive and well thought out. It gets too complicated for my taste, but roll with it and you'll be fine. Very creative sci-fi. The Inspector Lowbeer in the last two episodes is a very interesting character!

it's a strange series, hard to follow, poor ending of the season IMHO

Cool, glad that you liked it. I'll stick with it. We'll see. I enjoyed the first season of "Altered Carbon" but my interest fizzled out in the second season.
I also enjoyed "Man in the High Castle", but need to go back and finish the second season. Maybe I'll watch it from the beginning again.

A lot of the stuff that comes out these days has weird season finales, IMO.

I've been watching it for a while. I'm not current - I think I'm on episode 5 maybe. It's not as fast paced as I'd thought and I'm loosing interest in it.

I have however today just binged watched the full season of The Recruit on Netflix. The 2022 Season 1 is 8 Episodes - I highly recommend it. It is faster paced, has quite a bit of action, some unexpected turns as well. It's got a slight humorous take on the CIA.

TANGENT...How about Smile? Trailers look intense. Full disclosure....I suffered badly with demon dreams as a child and haven't fully outgrown that crap.

I finished The Peripheral today. I really enjoyed it. The end was a little bit of a surprise, but that's better than when things turn out how you expect. It's a shame were now going to have to wait at least a year for another season, if there is another. You just never know these days.

That's my sole complaint: the ending basically sets up another season rather than finished the story. Nowadays, there's no guarantee you'll get a conclusion. Yeah, that happened with TV (especially Fox) but it's even more prevalent now.

I haven't seen Moretz since she was a kid in Kick-Ass - she's grown into an even better actress.

Thanks for recommending "The Recruit", Mark. I binge watched over the weekend and it was FANTASTIC!

I think that is one show that could benefit from reading the book first. It's very good but it's also a lot to take in, condensed into the episodes. I enjoyed it and will likely rewatch it now that I understand it better.
