Sexy Anime Figures - Oh My!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as there is a hobby for basically every person out there...doesn't matter what they are into to....turning wrenches...cake baking or sexy \ provocative anime figures...you name it.

It's funny you don't realize it's out there until you truly cross paths. I don't even live in a fish bowl.

The back story: my estranged brother-in-law sadly passed away last year at a young age.

In going through his belongings, he had about 100 of these anime figures. My wife and I were initially going to give them away or thrown them out but after speaking with his ex-girlfriend, she said they were quite valuable, and we should put them on eBay. Which I did and I am (very pleasantly) surprised at the bids and what people will pay for them.

Here are some pictures, I joke with my wife that every time I look at them, I need to take a cold shower.

You may also have some luck selling them to the local comic book store especially the ones still in the box. Sorry for your family's loss.

I always wondered who bought those figurines. But then again, I'm not into anime. They're not cheap.

Sorry for you family's loss.

There are so many things in life I simply do not understand. The Japanese style of huge eyes, and the entire anime genera is one of those many things.

It just does not compute in my brain.

I think it is a way to satisfy a desire for and objectify very young women and still skirt the law. I think they intentionally resemble physically over developed (in some areas) teens. It seems there is a market for everything.

Yeah, I don't get it either, seems strange to me.

they can be staggeringly expensive.

prepare to be low balled at the comic shop. you're better off on facebook, but that means six months of dealing with weirdos.

I enjoy anime. I lived in Japan in the late 70s and mid 80s, so as a kid, I grew up with anime. I think some of the styles of artwork have changed quite a bit. Many are not sexualized any more than any comic book that you'd buy in the states.

This is the main female character from "Ghost in the Shell" from 1995.

this is a variety of characters from various anime

And then, there are the others that seem to focus on Barbie style bodies (or even more exaggerated) with insanely long legs, that seem to focus on upskirt, cleavage, and panty shots. That stuff is creepy. And then there's just straight porn. Again, creepy, but if you're a teen getting hammered by your raging hormones, not a huge surprise. But if you're an adult, then it's gotten pretty weird.

This is the kind of thing that I remember the most.

And then there were battleships and trains that went into space.

I even remember seeing something like this once.

Wow, yeah, that's crazy. The guys that have more than one. They dress them up, take them on vacations, take them to other dude's homes so the dolls can "meet" each other. I think there was even one that was photographed after it got another one drunk. I want to say that in one of the photos, there were a bunch of folks that had taken their dolls to some sort of convention or meet-n-greet or something, and there was even a woman with a male doll in the crowd.

Even creepier still was a real person who got plastic surgery and ribs removed to look like one of them.

there are lots of folks out there, that have serious issues (all some form of body dysmorphic disorder, I assume) and get extreme plastic surgeries because of it. I'm not sure what's more disturbing, the folks that have these issues or the Drs that do the work for them.
