Merry Christmas from our Ranch to yours…
Due to the drought in the summer of 2021, we had a handful of cows that didn’t get bred…
We just had our first ever Christmas calf. It was a hard pull at 2:30 AM… turns out cows don’t take Christmas off. Everyone seems ok. I had a shower and am going back to bed.

It was -1 so the temp wasn’t the bad part. A few days earlier when it was -37 would have been terrible. Still, working with wet hands in the wind was no fun. This is the second time I’ve had to use a jack to pull a calf, and had a hell of a time getting the chains on one of the legs.
