New Year, New Project Car Resolutions

2018 is a brand New Year, which means another year of project cars...

I'm planning on finishing a few project cars I've slowly been working on these past 5 years.. It shouldn't have taken me this long, but since my cars were still driveable, why not drive them? Well now's about the time where I would like to start some new project cars, so I figured i'd get the ball rolling again. This is what i'm attempting for 2018:

240SX
-Rebuild clutch pedal
-Differential + axle + driveshaft swap or buy sequential gearbox
-Stop blowing up transmissions
-Finish the top end build
-Rebuild or replace turbo
-Custom intake manifold
-Heat shield for master brake cylinder
-Install serial gauge
-Upgrade to an even bigger big brake kit
-Retune and reconfigure boost by gear

Miata #1
-Dry ice bath the interior
-Fab in new roll cage
-Floor mounted bucket seat
-New suspension

Miata #2
-Torsen diff
-Rotrex supercharger

Legend
-Replace axles and balljoints
-New brakes

Land Cruiser
-Rebuild axles
-Metal rear bumper
-Dynamat the entire car
-New speakers

Most importantly.... buy a 930 or a 964.

What are your New Year resolutions for your project cars? Hopefully we have all appeased the car gods for a great 2018! .......So far I haven't done anything

Me too. I'm so close to finishing my 911 rest - I know I'm only 40/ 50 clock hrs to 1st test drive. My Rat rod is farther away time wise ( and money) but its doable.

Hopefully tomorrow, a guy is scheduled to look at my 85.5 944 to buy it. I have lost interest in the car, and would rather steer the money towards other interests.

After buying a newer 30' camper that is a bit heavier than our previous unit, I am looking to upgrade either the truck I have, or find a different truck in better shape with less miles.

Pretty ambitious Eric! You won't have time to monitor PPOT!

My plan is to finish my '65 VW, and take the Speedster apart enough to have it repainted. The Speedster should be a LOT easier than the VW. I'm selling my Dodge WD-15, I just don't drive it anymore.

Heh, guess I should do an update this since Matt bumped the thread.

Land Cruiser

The 80's running great again and I've taken it to a few trails with friends. Developed the pesky heater hose leak on a trail run so I ended up bypassing and overhauled the cooling system while I was at it. I have been slowly amassing parts to replace all the trims and moldings... which should come after a repaint sometime down the line. Decided against the rear bumper for now just because the $ was better spent buying parts for other cars. Happy with it and am just going to keep enjoying it on the trails. Maybe some new wheels, but if I do, i'm going to bump it up to 17" which should open more tire options up in case the 16's go obsolete.

240SX

Super happy with the way the car drives now. Since the creation of this thread i've completely replaced the clutch assembly, installed a lightweight flywheel, 1 pc driveshaft, 1 way lsd, serial gauge, fabbed a downpipe, and have re-tuned it for street driving. Just a few days ago I got one of the last new tail light sets in the world for it too . This year the plans are to install the new Recaro's I have sitting in the garage and just enjoying drives with it.

Sadly, no more Miatas now and the Legend is just a lawn ornament. I replaced the balljoints, axles, and brakes, but need to find time to do some EGR cleaning and intake manifold as well. No 930/964, as they've unfortunately gone way out of my price range .
