The big one?

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/quake-prediction-says-signal-just-hit-warns-potential-big-earthquake-san-francisco-la

On Monday morning, Quake Predictions published a warning that read for the next two days -- there is a "dangerous situation" of the likelihood of a 7.0-magnitude "in the San Francisco Bay to NW of Los Angeles area."

Yawn.

The guy at the site is a quake quack. Not surprising that Zero Credibility would post his fear mongering.

Could he be right? Sure. Could I win the lottery? Sure.

There will be a large quake at some time, but predictions are imprecise. The best I've heard about is a quake report people can sign up for an app that gives warnings of quakes in progress - giving up to ten+ seconds of warning/lead time on their smart phones/watches. We just had a little shaker a couple of days ago centered about 30+ miles from here as the crow files. It was a 4 poiint something at the epicenter.

Its an eventuality.
A 6.0 in the region gets about 2 ft waves in my pool. Watching is very disorienting.
If the local TV & radio stations are offline, its in LA, if they stay on its a local one
I used to keep my tires off my stored race car while on jack stands, now I keep the tires on for a safer landing.

I haven't spent any quality time in earthquake zones (we did have a small, small, small one here tens years or so ago) in decades so my GAF meter is a bit lagging.

Seems difficult at best, the prediction angle:

This is neat:

Northridge quake in '93. Friend's mom's house in Northridge had pool water in the 2nd floor bedrooms (from open windows over the pool).

I used to call 'em terra surfing. Left CA in late '91.

I’m thinking the Pacific Northwest is the place to worry about. The Cascadia subduction zone is way way way overdue. That one is going to wipe out Seattle or so I have read.

^^^pins and needles!

I wonder about this. We ALL know it is coming. Yet, we calmly look away and ignore reality. Sort of like the cattle in the pen...

Let's hope I am wrong.

I felt the 6.2 last week that was centered just south of Eureka. I’m in the Sacramento valley about 150 miles east. It was unsettling to say the least. They had multiple aftershocks, including one yesterday, over 5.0.

Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle and Portland will all have major damage. A 700 mile subduction zone that lets go for the whole length, from the bottom 1/4 of Vancouver island to N California. Jan. 26, 1700, 9:30pm local time was when it let go last, they know that because the Japanese have been keeping written weather records since 200AD, 9hrs after the subduction zone releases Japan gets hit with a 20' tsunami, happens every 250-300 years on average, last time the coast of Wa state dropped almost 7 feet. There are places in Wa that are rising up 3/4" per year They say that people at the coast have 5 min to get to high ground, the tsunami is traveling over 500mph and that you'll feel the quake 2000 miles away. Every major subduction zone in the Pacific Ring of Fire has let go in the last 70 years except the Cascadia fault and they predict over 9.1 on the sphincter scale, could be the largest event ever recorded. Its going to be devastating, this part of the west coast of N America will be shut down for years for basic services, water, power, N Gas. Millions of people will be affected, this will make the tsunami that hit Japan look like a ripple in a bath tub.
Hang onto your hat, this has been a regular occurrence for thousands of years. You would never call the Cascadia Subduction Zone "Old Faithful" but Old Regular comes to mind. Its a ticking time bomb.

Right now I feel sorry for all the people that saved their money all year for a big California vacation, and all they get is is storms and rain.

An earthquake would make it a National Lampoon level vacation.

You are correct. And Rainier (which is next door to Mt. St. Helens) is overdue for eruption.
