Knives Out 2: Glass Onion - very entertaining!
The missus and I watch a lot of mysteries, mostly British, because they have made a bunch and do a good job.
We watched Knives Out, the first one and while it was beautifully filmed and the actors were great, the movie just wasn't great. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't memorable. Tonight we watched Knives Out 2: Glass Onion. We were both blown away by how entertaining it was. We were also blown away because it seemed to be a parody of several things, but most notably, Elon Musk. We were also impressed by one of the main actresses. She seems to primarily be a rapper/music artist, but she has been in several movies and was one of the main characters in "Hidden Figures." Daniel Craig's performance was really fantastic, but I think she may have outshone him.

Just finished it. I thought the Musk commentary was spot on.

My wife and I just watched it last night. We were poking around for a movie to watch. We saw it listed and since we had seen the original Knives Out, thought it would be a good choice. It was really good ! It was so much better than the first movie, rare for a sequel.
Another good movie we watched recently is Bullet Train. A tad bloody ( from the directors of Deadpool) but quite entertaining.

Edward Norton also delivers!

Inbreathiate!
The movie was entertaining and the dialogue quite witty. Worth a second viewing due to the clues embedded within. I think a major point of the movie was a commentary about the human trait of ‘misremembering’. I am pretty sure all the characters were a parody (and/or composites) of someone in real life. The denouement was a bit anticlimactic and the destruction cringe. A fun part for me was to try to identify the artwork. I did not see Klimt, Monet, Dali. However Mondrian, Degas, Gauguin, Warhol, were present. Van Gogh may have been (who is currently on exhibit in Detroit (Institute of Art) through 1/22/23). A second look will resolve that mystery. Porsche content also! Last edited by Crowbob; 12-26-2022 at 03:46 AM.. |

Plan to watch it, not expecting too much.
FWIW i think Knives Out is one of the greatest movies of the past 10 years. Maybe 20.

Interesting. Like I said before, the missus and I came away from the first thinking "meh."

I liked it, caught it in theater during its one-week theatrical run. Daniel Craig looks so happy to be not-Bond.
Edit: I realize his accent is weird, but that has to be the script and direction. Craig's character lives in London, obviously Craig can do a standard British or American accent, at some point I imagine the backstory behind his character will be fleshed out and we'll learn why he talks and dresses the way he does.

Agreed....A hodgepodge of too many weird characters. Glad I didn't see the first one.

First one was much better. The new one is very superficial.

I'll try it. I looked earlier and it isn't on Netflix but the new one is. Prime has it for a rental of only $2

I believe Janelle Monae is the woman in the Audi coupe commercial.

My son was visiting for the holiday and wanted to watch it on Netflix. So the wife and I watched with him. He liked the first one so was intrigued by the new one. I found it entertaining but have never been much of a film critic so did not spend much time analyzing it. Thanks everyone for splainen things here. Next time I talk to my son I can impress him with all incite I picked up here.

I cannot get past Daniel Craig’s obnoxious accent in the trailer.
I doubt I’ll ever watch it. |

Hated his accent.
Bond, or action movies are his calling card. Edward Norton has always been cool... Took a couple sittings to get through it, but I did... |
