$1,350,000,000!

I could do some serious damage with that.

Coincidently, the pot is exactly the same as your chances. 1 in 1.35 billion. It's still fun, though.

Two things purchased. That's all it would take. H & B. But in sizable quantities.

Cripes, Im getting my SS increase next week. I'm wondering if I'll last a month with circa $200 of extry money to squander.

My wife and I went to a dinner meeting once that had door prizes after the meal. 14 people in attendance, and everyone EXCEPT my wife and I won a door prize. That is a perfect example of my luck at drawings. I have attend 20 Porsche Parades. Every year lots of really nice prizes are given out, sets of tires, trips to Germany, and some people I know have won more than one set of tires. I have never won as much as a baseball cap.

I will not waste my money on a lottery. It is just a tax on the math impaired.

Good luck, but I will feel confident saying no one on this board will win the lottery.

You never win because you're too grumpy, Glenn. I never win because I don't play. I think I've bought ~ 5 tickets over the years, mostly when I was much younger, and always because my girlfriend wanted to buy a ticket. The only thing that I ever won was keeping the gf happy, but that's all I expected to win.

I'm not a gambler. I went to Jai Alai once when I was in college. I made three $2 bets and won $21. When I was about 8, we were in Japan, and some club off base (VFW?) had a small room with slot machines. My parents (also not gamblers) wanted to show me a slot machine. I put in a nickle and won $2.10.

So I'm a winner, but I'm not a gambler!

There is a major horse racing track and casino 5 miles from my house. In 32 years I have been twice. I start with $20 to blow, and it is like going to the movies, just entertainment. It is weird how watching the horses race with no bet is kinda boring, but if I have two bucks on a horse, suddenly I am cheering on the horse that is never going to win.

I was done with it, and made a final bet of 4 bucks to "blow the wad" of my betting money and lost that as well. I spent more on beer and food than the 20 bucks of betting. I had fun, and went home. I have not been back in over 32 years. I can think of better ways to waste money.

Yea, I am not a gambler.

The largest casino on the planet is in Oklahoma. Casinos are all over the place. All of them are there to make money, just like the lottery. The odds are always in the favor of the house, or the lottery.

About 15 years ago, I represented a woman whose son won about $1.5M in the Washington State lottery. I figure that is about as close as I will ever get to lottery winnings.

After taking the lump sum and paying taxes, he probably walked with around $475K, and I'd be very surprised if a nickel of it is left.

I buy about one ticket every twoish years. When the pot is enormous.

And, I have a plan:

I talk with my family and we all have a "lottery wish item." My son was a Lake Placid Blue 1963 Stratocaster. My daughter was a dog that wears a sweater. My wife was an Italian home. Mine was a nice sailboat. This dreaming, is worth the $2 easily.

And, on the VERY remote chance of a big win, I will do the following:

Set up 1/2 in a charitable trust that I control. I will spend the rest of my life giving this out.

Spend the other 1/2 - after I have gifted a few important people in my life meaningful amounts.

First step is to hire a legal team, PR team, accounting team and possibly move and change my name.

So yes, I am pretty damn cheap. Look at all the mileage I get from $2.

Not going to buy...winning would ruin the short time of life I have left.

Thinking about it, I have everything I dreamed of when I was in high school.

Is there any other thing that a person could do with $2 that might change it into $1.35 billion?

I doubt there are many lotto players that don't know the odds are stacked against them.
My math is/was top notch in college....that doesn't mean that I plan on winning....

If the day comes, (which it never will), that I can't afford to play a few bucks.....I give up and hope to die.

ther e has never been a time in my life since jr high when i couldn’t afford to spend $2. never. i will happily be buying 3 tickets for friday. i don’t understand the usual anti-lotto ticket buying attitude that gets posted every time a lotto thread is started. i know a woman that wine $1million twice playing NY lotto. it happens. 2 bucks is very small price to pay for the chance to win.
