That. . . and the lack of maintenance on just about everything, They lost two aircraft in Russia in less than one week, the result of inadequate maintenance.

Ukrainian propaganda? Sure. But how much is truth?

If the Russians don't have soldiers, food, guns, or even shoes...why does Ukraine need $100B U.S. dollars a year to defend against them...and why have they asked for trillions to rebuild (if Russia has no means to destroy anything)? Might they be building some yachts too?

Good questions all...

What surprised me is that the video wasn't surprising.

The other day I was watching a video about fighting in winter. Given the effects of sub zero conditions on personnel and hardware, it is prudent to put your money into state of the art clothing and keep the tech as simple as possible to keep the soldier and their weapon functioning. Military tech doesn't get a whole lot simpler than a bolt action rifle.

I believe that there's plenty of truth in the video, but at the same time, it's obviously Ukrainian propaganda. Propaganda is by definition biased and suspect.

On a related note, I wonder how Russia would do if China decided they wanted some more land. I suspect China is in a better position. They may have some similar issues, but I suspect they are closer to how they present themselves.

One of my friends saw combat in Viet Nam. He said the biggest shock in his life was being handed a new combat rifle and seeing Mattel on the stock. He was not happy at that moment.

We have all seen the movies that depict our military as well equipped, state of the art, and professional. I wish that were so, but I can only hope no American solider ever unwraps a block of C4 and finds just a block of wood or a rubber sheet in the armor.

I understand that there was a time not that long ago that those were available for next to nothing. I think I heard of them (maybe not new, unfired) going for $99. I wish I'd gotten in on that deal.

When a country goes to war, many companies that previously built or manufactured things are repurposed to make tools of war. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Mattel had a history of manufacturing items, and was likely easily able to retool to manufacture other items. That doesn't mean that they were toys.

Yea, I understand. But of all the names to see on a weapon, a toy maker was not what he wanted to see. Especially after a long week in the jungle trying to stay alive.

classic logical fallacy, all or nothing thinking.

it seems the RF forces are rather "lumpy" wagner group seems well trained and well equipped, but the new recruits coming in, get basically nothing.

My understanding of Russia's situation is a looooong history of 'yes' men under their leader, arrogance, corrupt from the bottom up, mismanagement of existing assets. An example would be where maintenance was either nonexistent or deferred or stated it was when it wasn't - to the financial benefit of those in charge and the 'contractors'.

Exactly what I bought. I was gonna Bubba it out (do the whole modern upgrade Tacticool stock and shorten barrell) but decided to leave it alone.
