Well I don't know the full story, it was crowbarred, both trunks front and back were forced open with a crowbar. The key was smashed open......

A fixer upper that should be do-able.

Not an "S"

Looks pretty early and not an S, so likely a '97-99. '97 and 98 were 2.5L. 6K will buy the best of the best. IDK what the 2 lids will cost, and the bumpers may need work. Will need work. And paint. So, basically, the car is a total insurance wise.

Hope the drive train and electronics are OK. Otherwise that is a sub 2K race car project. And only worth that because of parting out potential. I hope your buddy got it free.

More: can't see under the snow but certainly damage to the LF fender, some that can be seen like at the door.

The Boxster is a great chassis but as already pointed out there is potential big $$$ repairs lurking under the snow .

Google must be watching me read PPOT, this guy's channel just popped up on my Youtube suggestions.

https://www.youtube.com/@JRGarage/videos

He's bought a couple 986, a 987s, and a 981.

Here's his latest 986. Warning: He's annoying.

The Boxster is a brilliant car. I may get another some day. My 01S was my first Porsche. My current stable is a bit older. The 1st gen Boxster was small in comparison to even a 914. As much as I loved that thing, at 6'1" it was a tad too small for me. Good luck to your buddy. Hopefully it works out well.
