The price of haircuts.

Got my hair cut the other day. It was just a regular, old man's haircut and the price was $30. $30 is the normal going pirce for a basic haircut in my area. I was telling the young guy that cut it, the price of a hair cut when I was young was 90 cents. He couldn't believe it. Afterwards I was thinking how much a haircut for him would cost at the rate of increase over time I was telling him about. So a little basic calculation shows a haircut for him would cost $1000.00 when he gets to be my age. I hope hs will be saving up for them.

The normal rate around here for a men's haircut is $20-$24 before the tip.
About all of them offer a senior discount of $3

It's the only place I use my age for a discount.....the haircut takes no longer than 10 minutes.

My wife is 9 years younger than me so she is happy if I keep the gray away.
I go to her barber for color and a haircut $130 every 6 weeks.

And back then you could buy a new Camaro for < $3,500
And a McDonalds burger for 15 cents...
a pre-65 quarter's silver content is worth around $3.50 today, and a current quarter is only worth 25 cents...

Hmmm. We have a lady who comes to our home and trims my wife's and granddaughter's hair and cuts mine. She would charge $30, but we make her take $40 to cover her travel costs.
I haven't gone to a barber shop in about a decade.

Around here if you go to a regular barber they charge about $30 but you come out of the place looking like a middle eastern gangsta.

So you go to a hairdresser. But they charge $50 to $60 for an ordinary guys haircut

And me not really having fifty bucks worth of hair, I cut it myself. It's quite easy and fun.

My barber is a young guy, I think 19yrs old and cutting hair is a passion for him. I met him at my Thursday swing dance when he was still in barber school. He now works in a barbershop. The cost for a cut is $21 and I tip him $9 to make it an even $30.

George Clooney cuts his hair with the same flowbee for 25 years. You could be jet-setting around Italy with a hot wife right now.

As a kid, my dad made my brother and I get a buzz cut. No hair anywhere more than 1/2 inch long. Basically the barber could just about spin the chair for our haircuts. They cost 25 cents in San Marcos, TX in the 1962. Dad would give both of us 50 cents, and one quarter to the barber, and one quarter to buy a comic book, (12 cents) and a bunch of candy. We rode our bikes to downtown San Marcos.

Once I was making enough money mowing yards to pay for my own haircut, I got to grow it out but never touching my ears or dad said go get a haircut!

My barber now trims my hair, eyebrows, and my beard for $30. I tip her five more bucks since it was more than just a plain haircut.

My wife cuts my hair because she does not like how other people do it.

I would cut it myself with a #2 and #4 guard on the clippers, but she does not like it that short.

Haven't had my hair professionally cut in a looooong time . My wife grabs the clippers , setting # 2 and goes to town . Less than 15 minutes and done . I have better things to waste money on besides a haircut

Costs me $20 in the same barbershop I spent a dollar at in 1961. But that long ago dollar was backed with silver. What's a "junk" (no real collectable) silver quarter worth today?

I just got my haircut today at Great Clips. It was $18 with the senior discount and I tipped $6. I usually don’t go anywhere, because ever since Covid, I bought a nice Oster (sp?) razor on Amazon. I use a number 6 clip on the sides and a 8 clip on the top. The hardest part is the back of the neck.

One of the places I go to is a Great Clips and they just started a new last step to a mens haircut.
They have a bin of heated moist towels that they wrap around your neck when done...and they are hot!

I try to take as much time as possible before getting up....it feels so good.
$20 with my senior disc. plus tip.
