Disassembling a mid-rise lift?

Searched but could not find anything. I have an atlas mid-rise lift and I am about to redo the garage floor and build it into the ground. Have any of you ever disassembled a mid-rise lift and if so, how do you take it apart? I can get the arms off easily as well as the hydraulics but the 2 large plates on top are giving me headaches. Appreciate any help thanks.

I have the Bendpak MD6XP in a pit and I love it. It came mostly assembled, and all I did was hook up the hydraulics.

It looks like it could be dissembled, but I never tried. Did your lift come with a manual?

When I had my pit put in, I had them cut a trench and I put in 1.5 inch conduit to carry the hydraulic line and 110 volt line for power in the pit. It is great to the have the pump mounted to the wall and out of my way.

I have a piece of 1/2 plywood that covers the pit when lowered and it basically is gone and out of the way and the plywood helps keep the leaves and debris out of the pit.

It was a real challenge to get the lift into the pit. I had a buddy help me and we used long very stout pry bars and straps. Getting it out would be a real challenge.

Try to download the manual for your lift, and good luck!

Thanks for the reply I actually showed the concrete guy your pictures and he is pouring a new floor with the pit for the lift. I do not have a manual and have not had any luck searching online. I want to take it apart to move it out of the garage for the construction and then place it in the pit. I think the lighter it is the better when placing it in the pit

Do you have an engine hoist? Can you borrow or rent one?

I can and that is an option to get it in the pit but I really need to move it out of the way for the work being done and the only real way to do what I need to is to lighten it up and make it more portable

Thanks for the replies I got on my back under the lift and finally figured it out. See pictures. In the front there are set screws holding the drift pin in place one on each side of the pin, they are 4MM allen head screws very hard to see unless you are all the way under the lift. Loosen the screws then with a punch drive the pin out. In the rear there is a 9/16 bolt remove the bolt and drive the rear drift pins out and then the top comes off. I figured I would post this in case someone else needs to do this in the future.

Thought I would update the progress. I started by attaching casters to the frame of the lift using U bolts to make the lift easy to move around. I then disassembled the lift removing the hydraulic rams and the top plates this made moving it more manageable. I was able to place the frame in the pit myself using a dolly and a floor jack. Then I reassembled the lift in the pit and all is well. Sorry I did not take pictures but I was so into getting everything done I forgot to take them. But here are a couple of the lift in the pit

Good to see you were successful, Mike. Congrats, it looks like it'll be a work saver.
What kind of mat is that in the pit?
Looks like it'd be difficult for the lift to roll on it when extending.

The mat is a thin interlocking mat. The lift rolls fine on it because it is so thin the lift does not sink into it. I made sure to grease all of the axles and moving parts before putting it back together.

Thanks Mike. Some time in the future I'll need to do much the same thing. And move it by myself.

While it's apart I'll probably do some painting of the main bits. I'd been spraying some anti rust stuff under the car which stripped the paint off the hoist, then surface rust set in. So I'll tackle the job in an orderly manner, no busting my arse trying to move too much weight.

PM me when you are doing it if you need any advice or run into any trouble

The only experience I have with a lift of sorts was helping my brother move his four poster to a new location at his old place. They have a neat system where the 'wheels' attach to the ramps and you lower them to bring the base up off the ground. Really ingenious way of using the lift hydraulics to do all the heavy lifting work.

Same way I moved the lift. I raised it all the way up then attached casters to the four corners of the frame using u bolts. I then let the lift all the way down and the casters contacted the ground. I attached a rope to the front and it moved around easily to wherever I needed it. After disassembly it was really easy to move.
When I put it into the pit I put a 2x4 across the pit and pushed the lift over it. The front wheels contacted the ground inside the pit and I moved it all the way forward. Then I put a floor jack under the back of the lift removed the 2x4 and let the jack down. After that I reassembled the lift raised it up placed it where I wanted it and removed the wheels
