Snowed in today

I've got a thermometer on my desk that has a few remote sensors. Last night when I went to bed it was 34º outside. This morning when I got up and came downstairs to my desk, it was 34º outside. I've probably glanced at the thermometer on my desk 50 times today, and every time it's said 34º. It's crazy for the temp to be that steady for that long. I can't of course say that it didn't go up or down during the night, but I have no reason to think that it might not have been steady the whole time.

Apparently, 34º and windy is past my limit for archery. 18 arrows and I was back inside.

My backyard. We've had snow on the ground continually since before Christmas. Every time it almost melts off, we get another round of cold and another inch or two. After 8 years of an 18" snowblower I bought used, I sold it for a decent sum and got a bigger one with a few more bells and whistles.

Spent first four years growing up in north Wisconsin. I remember getting geared up to go out to play in the snow was quite a production. Then once out the back door into the winter wonderland for a bit before I had to take a pee or whatever and it was back inside to reverse the process. My dad would flood the back yard to make a skating rink. I learned to skate pushing an old chair around. Then we moved to Arizona, Okinawa and the Philippines where there was little snow. Next was north to Alaska and over to New Hampshire for plenty of it. Back to the tropics on Guam and finally settling in Gulf Coast Texas. Every few years we get a little. Now I get my snow fix by visiting my brother in Colorado. Next week I head up there to do some snowshoeing in the mountains to overnight in a few 10th Mountain Division Association huts way up along the continental divide.

It blipped down to 33º last night for a bit before bed but went back to 34. This morning it's back down at 33º. It rained before I got out of bad, and it looks like it was liquid.

For what I assume is most of the rest of the country that's worse off than us, stay warm!

I bought this beast two summers ago at a swap meet… the 11 hours on the hour meter saved me $1,100 off retail.

Thing is, it has not snowed in metro-NY yet AT ALL. We just broke a 50 year old record for latest measurable snowfall, and counting. Last year I used it ONCE for a light 4” snow that I could have kicked to the side of the driveway with my boots if I had to. As of this writing at least, this wasn’t my wisest purchase.

At least you didn't pay retail!

I'm going to say that it was money well spent. If you HADN'T bought it, you'd probably be setting records for snow fall. The reason that you haven't been getting snow is because you bought it. It's kind of like the opposite of washing your car and then having it immediately rain.

That is a very nice looking snow thrower. Very good find.
Honda's are very sought-after.

My thrower, which I bought about 10 years ago for $390 is on sale at Lowes now for $999

We average about 8" of snow annually here in southern ID and most comes in December. I like it, the kids and dogs like it, I get to run the snow blower to clear the driveway and sidewalks, and then a few days of sun and it all goes away. This week we got 2" on Saturday night and the cold blast of arctic air followed with temps down to 5F one morning. That was just a little too much fun but the sun came out today and we will be in the 30s tomorrow.

I guess you could call this "winter lite".
