They can detect cancer from a blood test?
They checked his PSA as part of the blood work. It was probably off the charts, and they told him run, don't walk to your doctor.

My 96 yr old Pop's caregiver was always scolding him for eating stuff she thought wasn't
all that healthy. Drove him and me nuts. I asked his primary to give us a phone appointment and the Doctor did.
While the caregiver was listening to the phone con, the Doctor told my Dad he can eat anything he wants. The caregiver is no longer employed by us.
My Father has no diseases that his eating would effect so at his age he eats glazed donuts and has an occasional beer. Why not?

If they didnt' operate, it would be about six weeks. Of course my parents said, "Opoerate!." After his operation, he was mostly a vegetable and died a week later. That is sad. A friend works at a hospital and she said the management refers to the colonoscopy as the moneyscope.

Yes, it's the PSA count. If over 3 they start watching. Over 6 and they want a biopsy which in older men will usually produce some positive results. You go from there.

No need for removal anymore. In a few years that will be Neanderthal.
