Vax day today.

The Nurse that came out for my Health Wellness exam stressed how important the latest Covid booster is.

So today I had that along with the Pneumonia shot. Next week I'll prob get the Shingles shot.

The Pneumonia shot is a one time shot, thankfully. There were quite a few people waiting in line for the Covid shot at 9am.

You're supposed to have a bit of time between covid & shingles vaxes .... check into that!

stevej37 02-01-2023 08:26 AM

^^^
Hmm....he didn't say anything about that. I'll check it out

Looks like two eggs, :D

As I remember the shingles shot is a two part shot. Several months apart.

I had to "old" shingle single dose shot, and a year later the first of the two shot shingles shot. My mom got shingles, and she said it was 10 times more painful than childbirth. I don't want to see how bad it is.

I got the pneumonia one on one of my annual doctors visits. Since my wife and I are geezers, we got the strong dose of the flu shot.

stevej37 02-01-2023 08:37 AM

^^^ Yes, the shingles vax is 2 part and the new one is named Shingrix
I had the heavy duty flu shot also.

KFC911 02-01-2023 08:39 AM

I've never had a flu shot, but heeded advice and got the Shingrix and the covid vaxes. I seem to recall a few weeks minimum between the two types... Steve just needs to check.

Another newly minted old guy here, also got the shingrix stuff between the first covid and the second covid with a gap just in case.

The band-aids above, are put on first...then the shots are given through the material.
The dark area is not blood...its the adhesive that shows from pressing on the area after the shot.

I don't know too many people who still believe in the booster's risk-to-reward ratio- are you in a high risk cohort, or was that visiting wellness nurse PARTICULARLY cute?;)

stevej37 02-01-2023 08:55 AM

^^^ I didn't really check him out that close. :D

My general Dr office is continually pushing to get it. Maybe if I get these shots they will get off my case.

My 81 year old mother is currently having a shingles attack (has not been vaccinated against it)- that was diagnosed two days ago at local urgent care where my dad took her when she was experiencing sever pain in her left shoulder, arm and hand (thought she might be having a heart problem). She has a cluster of sores on her left hand and had not mentioned that to anyone, not even the urgent care doctor who saw the sores for himself during initial exam following an EKG that looked normal. She is currently in much pain and discomfort - sucks bigly.

Should have posted in parf before you got the shot.

stevej37 02-01-2023 10:46 AM

^^^ Better advice over there? :D

Tobra 02-01-2023 10:56 AM

You would not think so, but yes, on this subject, without a doubt.

See if there are any threads on heart or lung transplants ... I don't trust the folks at Duke and might need one some day ;).

Or ask the Pope .... he visits regularly for religious advice too!

stevej37 02-01-2023 11:35 AM
