Snowed in today

We're in the mountains and woke up snowed in. Absolutely fantastic!
My wife, from Russia, does not think it is winter without snow. But she grew up in Murmansk, above the arctic circle. Now she is happy.

And our new dog loves the snow. He eats it and jumps in it and has a great time.
The only bad thing is he gets so excited that he pulls on the leash and almost pulls me over if it is icy.

I love the snow because I have never had to work in it. As a kid in upstate NY, it was playtime. As an adult in SoCal, snow was where you went to ski. Now, as the owner of a mountain cabin, I have to shovel the driveway, or I can just stay down near the coast.

But I feel for the people suffering from the horrible winter throughout the country.

We have about 8 inches of snow on the ground. We went the month of January without any new snow until a couple days ago.
They tell us we are still above our normal average at this time. It's 5 degrees outside right now.

And I assume you're like me that if the family (wife and pup) are happy, then you're happy. Wow, Murmansk, very cool and interesting.

That's pretty much me. I'm from FL, so not really any snow experience there. But when dad went into the Navy, we moved to northern Japan where I had lots of experience with snow as a kid. We went back when I was a teen, so I did a little shoveling then, but only remember the fun. When we lived in NoVA, we got snow a couple of times, but that mostly meant that it was play time. That gave me a little experience driving in it since I was a teen by that point. If it snows here, the world comes to a stand-still, so I don't have to worry about anything, and it melts before I'd have to do any shovelling.

Yeah, there are folks that have had to deal with some crazy weather this winter.

Snow is supposed to stay up in the mountains, and stay out of my area. If I go nuts and want to see snow I will go visit it up in the mountains. If it never snowed here again I would be just fine with that.

We have three days of sleet now and a thunder-sleet storm yesterday. Yuck.

My commute is 14 steps down the hall to my office. I only went outside a few steps to throw the kitchen trash in the big wheelie bin, and out to the mail box and back. Done.

They should make snow illegal in my area.

February is generally our snow month. So far winter has been very easy to deal with.

Yep, so far it's been fairly mild. We've had some cold weather and a really hard freeze back in Dec, but other than that, not too bad. I'm hoping the trend continues. We got almost the avg amount of rain in Jan which was good after last year.

We are currently iced in.

Probably Thursday at the earliest before it's reasonable to venture out.

I get my essential supplies in on regular deliveries so have a nice stockpile of TP, cat food, and a couple cases of wine showed up Saturday.

I'm good.

The weather forcasters lied to us. We were supposedly getting up to a few inches of snow. It's pretty cool out but clear and sunny. We love getting about two snow events each winter. We get the beauty of it snowing, a cover of a couple of inches to make it beautuful for a day, & then it's gone. That's about perfect for us.

I just wish that the dang clouds would leave me alone long enough to view Comet E3.

I went outside at 7am today to roll the garbage bin to the road.
It was 5F and no wind. I could hear cars starting up that were a half mile away...it's amazing what can be heard when the temp is that low with no wind.
A very peaceful time.

I got a dusting a couple weeks ago (last week, maybe?) that was melted by 11 a.m. I love my Arizona winters.

We had a light dusting of snow this morning north of Seattle, first since before Christmas.

Very mild winter so far, got my Targa out last 2 days in a row, sunny and cold... she likes it that way!

Those are exactly my sentiments but I am in Zone 4/5 so "winter" may mean different things.

We get a few large snow storms (defined as more than peck, less than a cackle) every few years but we are always set.

Growing up in NJ, I still remember that wonderful feeling of looking out the window in the evening to watch the snow pile up and thinking, "No school tomorrow!"

I look outside and relish the thought of firing up the snow thrower in the morning now.

That thing is fun.

Record heat yesterday and today Naples FL. Where I lived a year ago has 6” of snow on the ground and has been getting in the teens. Don’t miss it at all.
