2023 Daytona Rolex24…. Who’s coming?

Hey all, i haven’t been on here much since Roninlb passed away, as I’ve been pretty busy wrenching in p-cars…
But this will Mark iirc my 15th Rolex 24 (honestly have lost count lol)

who is coming this year?
I setup a pretty sweet camp, will be live streaming the race on a 100” screen and will have a driving sim if you want to set a Daytona lap on our leader board (ps4 w/gt7).

On another note…I’m really glad i get to go this year, i almost died back in October, but a major surgery saved me and i have been on a mission to recover.
I started golfing again in post-op week 6, my power was way down but it’s coming back, and i went back to work full time a couple weeks ago to a long backlog of Porsches waiting on me lol

See you Thursday Brian, always enjoy your hospitality. Also hope I can get used to the steering input and improve on sim lap times.

The GTP line-up looks great for Daytona. Next year, there should be at least 6 more with Lamborghini + Alpine (Dodge?) + various customer cars + the possibility of Ferrari.

Too bad they don't change the Daytona 24 to include the WEC cars now that they're on equal footing. Maybe just not enough pit space since they're already max'd out at 61 entries. Oh well, the WEC cars will be at Sebring with their own race again and it will be interesting to compare lap times with GTP.

I'd like to see more home grown drivers on those teams and I think it would help them market the cars and series to the US audience. But don't get me wrong I very happy they have introduced new teams and cars this year. The Cadillacs were getting a little long it the tooth.

I'm going to the Roar on Saturday. Rain is a possibility for Sat and Sun.

I wish, was there in 2019 watched Alonso dominate his Saturday afternoon stint.
2019 was stopped for rain Sunday morning, still had a blast we were prepared for rain.

Do you have your big rig in the infield this year?
Funny if my compass is right the north side of the infield is dig a hole make a fire pit (Sebring style) and the south side of the infield is 60 foot Rvs. lol

Sold that off a few years ago Mike. I might be going to the Roar tomorrow. Need to try to line a few things up today.

New IMSA docuseries out:

Question: for the Roar on Friday, can I drive my car into the infield and park? Most IMSA events are 'all-access' for the general admission fee. The Daytona website has very sketchy info for the Roar Thanks.

And among the Prohibited Items is collapsible chairs?? Huh? Do they enforce this? I guess I'm used to the Sebring free-for-all ... 3-story scaffolding with a hot tub on top and gas BBQ underneath? No problem!

You should be able to park in the infield, that is my plan anyway. It has been that way as long as I have known. The chair thing is ridiculous and I doubt they would enforce it.

Thanks Paul. I suspect that everything defaults to the 500 weekend rules and that they are likely referring to items for the grandstands. But it is not clear at all. Same for parking. You click on Parking for the Roar and it directs you to Lot 7 outside the track.

I've been going to the Roar since they started having it and you enter the infield through the big turn 2-3 tunnels. Bring whatever you want.

So glad to hear that you are doing better. I wish I could go but it just isn't in the ca4ds.
Here is the rig you need for the races and track events, available locally.
