I think Bowie was a genius. His versatility reminds me of David Byrne. A pretty good actor, if you ask me. The perfect choice for the alien Tommy Newton in The Man Who Fell to Earth in 1976. Watch the part starting at 1:00.

I asked the hotel concierge what was available to see one night and he said there was a play called "The Elephant Man." I had see a production of it in SF starring Philip Anglim, which was highly regarded. This production starred David Bowie, so I went. He was as good as Anglim. What a treat. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cPithDmHrd0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> A favorite. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/u3MX-rUtS6M" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Eh… 50/50.. what I like, I like a lot, but I also don’t like at all an equal amount of his songs..

From Young Americans
Favorite album, I love all the songs. No wierd experimental stuff. <iframe width="848" height="477" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/J-_30HA7rec" title="David Bowie - Fame" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> > |

I get it. Have been listening to Changes the album this week, and he was truly one of a kind. Huge loss for the world when he died. One of the true chameleons in the industry that understood that to be relevant, he had to adapt.

Early 70's and Diamond Dogs had only been out for a couple months. Myself and three buddy's heard Bowie was going to play at the McCormick Place in Chicago in a few days and there were tickets available.
We packed into my car on a weekday and drove the 4 hrs to the MP Bowie had made another of his changes (which we were unaware of) and the concert was a complete jazz/blues show. No earlier hits...it was a big disappointment. He did a good job anyway and we arrived back home just in time to go to school.:) Yes..he was truly a chameleon. |
Long time fan - got to see him during his Glass Spider tour in '87. Bonus treat: Peter Frampton played guitar during the tour.
Interesting trivia - Frampton and Bowie were friends and went to the same school as teenagers. |
Long time fan here also...
I can't seem to embed a YouTube video from this device. Can one of you fans please post a Bowie " Five Years" video? Thanks in advance... |

Just watched a Mick Ronson documentary called Beside Bowie. Very interesting, learned quite a bit about the Bowie era with Ronson that I never knew.

Big fan. Lets Dance possibly one of the best pop songs in history.
