I think most mechanical watches will gain or lose a little time regularly. I've heard that it's best if you start with a watch that is fast, because over the years it'll gradually slow down. Then you get the maintenance done. I think that you could pay someone to adjust it to it wasn't fast or slow. Also, you could buy a chronometer which is adjusted to various positions and to be right on the money.

Still, no matter what, a mechanical watch is unlikely to keep time as well as a quartz watch (like your Skagen). I like Skagens, they look nice and are very slim and light. My favorite is the one with the metal mesh band.
