I would advise using a Porsche certified shop to avoid use of used parts if you chose to fix
Farmers paid me real quick $2600 to try and buy me off. Porsche certified shop completed repairs for $9700.

Newly painted areas were 6 microns thick
OEM paint is 3 microns.
A PPI checks for past damage by measuring paint thickness

I was at my local CVS early last week when I heard a loud crunch. Looked around for the source and saw a newish Chevy truck into an E90 BMW. No idea what the truck driver was doing, but it was possible he was trying to swing around with a U turn to get a stall on the left side (stalls are angled and he was going the wrong way for that stall). I looked around and no one gave a damn. The guy was leaving so I yelled at him. He went through the parking lot and came back. His wife and daughter were just in front of me as I exited the store earlier. Typical local mentality as the daughter came back to me and got in my face because I called 911. Is that my car? No, then she tells me mind my own business. The old man flips me off. I tell her gtf out of my face. Police arrive and one of the CVS workers tells me to come in the store.

What is with people these days? They do not take responsibility for their actions.

With 240k on the clock, I wouldn't have even wasted the 10 mins talking to the police.
Just buff it out and keep driving. Heck, don't even buff it. Who cares beater

This is my sort of beater. Reversing slowly out of mtmy stall at Safeway last Friday, a Ram, rammed me. lol. Guy said he didn't see me and tried to swerve. Just came back from my estimate so i cleaned her up. Because I was backing up, my i surance said I am at fault, eventhough the guy didn't see me.

The damage.

After buffing it out.

Edit: Just got the estimate. A little over $2800!

Good for the cart lot boy letting you know what happened. Somebody raised him right.

Anyone use one of those mobile bumper repair services where they buff out the scratch and do a quick paint job in the driveway? This place in Dallas does it. I was wondering if drive way services would be ok for a minor 2-3" long scratch in a bumper. I need to get a bumper repaired in white Tiguan.

Sucks about the hit and run!

Normally I might even agree with you but since it was a hit and run, this kid needs a man up lesson

Another matter handled well by Tim, who might now be getting the police report to see if fault is established. Hopefully it is, and the liar lacked insurance. This way, Tim's insurance will cover the cost and then go after the liar. I am glad you said this to him:

Then again, it is probably too late to teach this guy. Seeing the damage to the red truck, the "I heard something but didn't feel it" statement does not even pass the straight face test.

The insurance industry got to our Washington legislature. Hourly rates are calculated according to statute. My Porsche guy, so skilled he could restore a crushed car for concourse, said he would just take the statutory fee but that was not okay with me. He got his regular rate. That was some of the best car money I ever spent. Whole car looks GREAT now.

+1

That's the biggest tell-tale of all. This dude is a dirtbag---hitting you and then moving his car as if it never happened. The only bad thing is he probably is underinsured, if he has any at all.

And being the plastic cover, not much to feel and definitely wouldn't be noisy.

BUT, it is very noticeable, the fact that he parked right behind you is an indication that really didn't know. Think about, had he known that he hit the Pepper, would he really park right behind it?

My wife has a knack for getting rear ended. Twice in supermarket parking lots. The last time in her Macan she was 3rd in line stopped at a light. It was like an accordion. The uninsured guy damaged 4 cars. Hers needed a new liftgate and bumper repair.

For $8k we could build you a larger oven so you can cerakote it....

I would love to Cerakote a car but:

250F H and E series aren't 100% UV safe
Air cure is 100% UV safe but looks like crap
V series is 100% UV safe but bakes at 500F, and is good for 1800F

So you can drive your car in the sun and into a volcano and have your black door frames, handles, wiper arms, etc. be just fine with V series.

This weekend I sent the insurance company pics of the damage.
Just got a call back from Progressive Insurance. $957
I am going to call them back tell them I accept it.

Once I get the check, I will spend 15 minutes buffing and call it good.
