Yep, blue jeans in the boy scouts. It was kind of crap, but I guess under the right (wrong) circumstances, probably better than nothing.

About the only thing that scares me, is when I am taking care of some old lady or old man, and they are really nice. Like salt of the earth, kind to their fellow man like people were in the past.

The nicer they are, the more catastrophic the stuff that happens to them turns out to be. This one couple, about 50, were the nicest people you ever met. She ended up getting calciphylaxis all her extremities, with mummified in an extremely painful way, and she passed away.

If you google that, DO NOT look at the pictures.

I've never been very afraid of much of anything. I've done lots of things during my life to feel like I've not missed out on too much. I still get up on ladders, roofs, trees, etc. My balance and reactions are still pretty good for being pretty old. I think tumbling and gymnastics as a young person have given me enough muscle memory to do OK. The thing I don't fear but regret is the prospect of all the things associated with age that limit a person. I regret the fact that when you get old enough, you're basically out of the game. You can't get faster, better, back into shape like you used to, your ability to do new things is severly curtailed, and you just have to seemingly concentrate on preserving what you have - which is a downhill fight. I guess you could say I'm afraid of those prospects.

Well said, Marv.

My strategery is to not fight it. Or at least not put too much energy into fighting a lost cause. I don’t mean giving up. I do mean changing priorities, accepting limitations, using and sharpening my super powers to their utmost advantage. Like invisibility. I’ve become really good at being invisible to all hotties everywhere and that ability is rapidly expanding to some not so hotties.

50? Old?

That does super suck, when bad things happen to good people.

50 is not old, now that I am almost 60

The bad stuff seems to ALWAYS happen to the good people.

KKK and other racists groups, sadly, we can't just eradicate them without being like them. But it seems like it would be OK to ship them off to some island somewhere. Kind of like a real life version of "ban-island".

"militant anti-racists" Any time I've seen those types, they seem to be just racist at the opposite end of the spectrum. It's an odd racism.

Never had it happen, but I think I would greatly fear a gun pointed at me. I pointed a shotgun at a burglar and the fear I saw in his eyes was real.

Other than that, I think I'm apprehensive about driving on a 65 MPH speed limit 2 lane road with only the yellow line between me and death. I used to do that between 90 and 100 but I avoid those kind of roads now.

I've never ever seen a dead person, in person, up close. I don't want to either. I have no idea how that would affect me. At this point I might take it in stride. But when younger, no.

We used blue jeans as well when I was in the Boy Scouts. First and last time I ever did it.

Yep, I've noticed that too. Also other things, like when I was at Kaiser one time. I commented to one of the nurses it seemed to me old people on medicare seemed to get kicked to the curb. She said I might have something there. That gave some fear of going to the doctor or hospital.

They have a driving service at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge near Annapolis MD for people that fear driving over.

If you're nervous or need assistance for any reason to cross the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge, contact us 1 HOUR BEFORE you get to the bridge. Once you call we'll coordinate a meeting location an assist you from there by driving your vehicle over the bridge for you

I had a gun pointed at me in the mid 90s. It didn't initially click. Once it did, my goal was to give the guy the money in the cash register. I asked him "do you want the change too?" It wasn't as scary as I'd have expected, but I did realize later that I had multiple opportunities to take the gun from the guy. But hey, not my money, and not worth my life. It was quicker and easier (and store policy) to comply.

Most driving situations still don't bother me.

I've also never seen a dead person in person (or someone mortally wounded). I'm not sure how it would affect me. I don't think it would be a big deal, but I'm not going to try to find out or confirm that.
