In Iceland they say there's no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing choices.
I think the same thing is true about housing and infrastructure. When I worked for the dairy, most of the building had flat roofs. Stupid choice, as it not only rains here, but it snows too. Sometimes a lot. I see people building on flood plains, then complaining when they get flooded out. Or they build next to the ocean and act surprised when the shore washes away. Someone has to fix this, they complain. Compaired to our efforts, Mother Nature is an irresistible force. Don't underestimate her. Sorry for your troubles, Milt. Best Les

This is what I keep telling myself too. I'm focusing ahead...once the rains end (hopefully soon) and the dry season kicks in, it'll be sunny & pleasant most every day 'till November
![]() Sorry to hear about the roof... Local rainfall's been just over 48" to date. Average around here for the entire rainy season is about 30".

It's another free car wash day. Consider the savings.

Amazing they often send patients home one day after replacement.
That must have been painful.

Juan, I feel it. I mentioned my friends who have a cabin in Truckee. IDT they can even see it much less get to it. Hopefully the snow melts in a way that doesn't cause water to stand above window height.

My place in Nevada City is around 2700 ft. Elevation. 100 inches of rain was our welcome to the foothills winter. Literally rain(hard) every day. 50-60 inches is more normal. I had numerous windows replaced last summer on my south facing great room wall. The last storm had unusually high winds and what do I hear. Drip drip drip. The top window is leaking. More caulking after the snow melts so I can set up my ladder. Here, the summers are spent getting the house ready for winter.

it hurt all the time before it was swapped out.
Quote:
was all good until i slipped on some ice in like week 5 and put a bunch of my weight on the new joint. subsequent x showed i jammed the rod 4mm further into the femur. did not fracture the femur and was not loose in the bone.. it's snowing again...

I have been honing my rain dance skills. Just ask Tobra if it works?

Zeke, I can understand how you feel. I get a little bummed when we're rainy/cloudy around here (North Carolina) after 3 straight days. This will pass and the wildflowers and grasses will be beautiful. We're headed out to NorCal later this year. Looking forward to the greenery.
Honestly, maybe a little trip to some sunshine would make you feel better? Hawaii, Mexico or even Florida (they're actually a little dry now).

I heard that.
AFA taking a trip, finances prevent. Anyway, I will need any money for repairs. Raining now. Took a shower with some hot water and some cold coming trough the ceiling. That gets torn out soon. Funny, I've worked on the roof even coating with silicone. That was a $700 waste of time. |

We had a big down pour come thru about an hour ago. I haven't looked to see what the gauge has in it yet, but the recycle trash can was tipped over this morning so it must have been floating in our 'lake' from last night's rain.

yep. many of them are being drained down to make room for the extensive snow melts that are expected. big concerns about the weather heating up quickly and melting that they may not be able to handle.
many of the local jeep trails up here may not open until july due to snow and some dry time. My club maintains a local trail that we anticipate a ton of work to address erosion and downed trees to be cleared.

Beautiful garden Scott…..yes, we got hit with 5” in a day recently. We live in the Appalachian Rainforest so we need a lot of water to keep everything beautiful and green.

So Cal native here, this was definitely a wet one.
Most in my lifetime? Not sure: 1969 was pretty rough on the suburbs east of LA, but I was a just a wee lad of six then. Regardless, the last four months - I’ve gotten my fill, and with the paucity of rain as we get in a normal year, I didn’t think that was possible.
