Some cities are, but there are no more cameras at the state level. And even when there were, payment was pretty much voluntary. They couldn't force you pay unless a process server got to you. I think they had 120 days to do it before the ticket went away. It's totally voluntary for people who don't live here. No process server is gonna go out of state. Scottsdale has "alternative service" where the process server can sign an affidavit that they made three good faith attempts, then they tape the notice to your door and you are considered served. Total BS.

I got a parking ticket in NYC once that was written before my meter had expired and I got to the car before it expired. Cop wrote a bogus time on the ticket too. I was so pissed, I went to my office in DC the next week and used a credit card swipe machine to make up a bogus receipt to show my being in DC at the date and time of the ticket. If they were committing fraud, I was gonna do whatever I had to to beat it. I won by mail too. I had to pay upfront, but I sent my letter and receipt and they refunded it.

How about this? Someone used my address to buy a Toyota at a volume dealer (Penske). They never made one payment. I get notices and I call. The collections people are so used to lies that no matter what you say they won't believe you.

3 months go by and a PU is parked across my driveway; 2 guys walking to the door. I meet them and say what's up? It's all about the car. No car here, no one by that name. I live on a street with an alley behind and these 2 fkcs say they are going around to the back. I tell them that if I see one hand over my gate I'm blowing it off with a 12 ga. The did their best to see in the back but no room for a car. There is still the garage.

I waited but I guess they didn't like the flavor of 00 buckshot so that's over. The note got sold to one collection agency after another and I delt with this for 7 years.
As a result there is a fence around my front and 8' high walls in back. Not even my neighbors can knock on the door.

30 minutes ago some Mexican was standing outside the front fence yelling for an answer. They were roofing next door and the best he was able to do was toss a card over the fence.

Long Beach is truly the sewer by the sea. I have feeling someone is gonna get shot on my property some day.

Technically those are not even tickets. They are invoices for "services rendered".

Like any invoice for service that I did not authorize it goes in the trash.

Camera tickets are legal and enforceable in CA. There is an article in the Los Angeles Times today about the possibility of installing speeding cameras.

IDT that's gonna happen because the system is broken as it is. It will be overwhelmed with speeding violations. No one drives the speed limit in L.A. or Orange County (where I usually drive) unless there is slow traffic. 65 in a 50 is the norm. 50 in a 40 and so on.

I was likely a mile or 2 under the 40 MPH speed limit yesterday while the engine was cold. I didn't realize I was holding someone up until they passed me going over a double double yellow line. People around here just don't give a fkuc.

Yesterday as I was walking into Ralph's (Kroger's) some 30 something woman walked into the self serve bakery section, loaded up and marched right out the door setting off the alarm. No one even looked up. The couple in front of me leaving set off the alarm in spite of having a cart full. When I walked through it didn't sound so it was working.

And they are after someone doing 6 MPH over?

Getting back to red light cameras, they turn them over to collections and your credit takes a 100 pt hit. If not more. I got one for a Corvette in Los Gatos which is over 300 miles from me. It was red and had a license similar to the one on the red Boxster. I had to send the image along with a pic of a Corvette pointing out that Boxsters don't have a flat back end with a lip.

They took that one off. I guess I was guilty until proven innocent. What a siht hole.

They are presently not enforceable in Ga. but they are in talks to link it to your yearly registration so it will have to be paid to renew your tag. Booooo!
