My daughter is a skier… and a racer.

This is the girl that broke her pelvis skiing 3 years ago…

She is 9 now and can tear up the mountain. She has plans to jump the cliff she tumbled over in her accident and has skied the double black run where she had her wreck many times since.

She had her first provincial ski race on the weekend and competed against 115 other young ladies. She came up 7th in the giant slalom race on Saturday and 6th in the slalom race on Sunday.

These are all under 20 seconds each and in order. She had 3 runs each day. The Sunday races were neat because she was racing at the same time as Griffin, one of the boys in our club for each race.

Ski racing, as miserable as it is (OK, probably just for me) is so essential. When you learn to make a turn where you must, in the worst place, on the worst snow/ice - you'll be a hero forever ...

I'm not going to lie - at our local hill yesterday there was a "race" and I'm not just a little jealous of the groms on those short skis putting down railroad tracks. My mantras can do about half of that but the rest of me can't.

That is so awesome having your kids racing!
We took our grandkids skiing yesterday. Two older ones went once last year with their parents and had a miserable time. This time I was able to get them competent enough to ride the chairlifts and do some blue runs. It was the first time for the youngest who is 4. She did ok but had some meltdowns. Lol
I am whooped from hauling their gear back and forth from motorhome to the bunny slopes for "breaks". This is the same place I learned to ski at 6 years old 50 years ago.

Proud dad here… she got 6th in the GS race and 11th in the SL race at the biggest U10 race in Western Canada this past weekend.

She made a mistake in this video and it cost her on that run…

Well it’s official, tonight at our season wrap up, Grace won the trophy for the highest ranked U10 athlete in our club.

She’s a ski racer alright…
