Clean up my kids mess!

Talk about entitled. What do they do at home when the kid makes a mess?

Blue Jays’ Anthony Bass takes shot at United Airlines after pregnant wife forced to pick up child’s mess.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/blue-jays-anthony-bass-takes-shot-united-airlines-pregnant-wife-forced-pick-up-childs-mess

Edit. I’ve never heard of either one of them.

After my granddaughters 9th birthday party the staff at the facility remarked how well behaved the kids had been and how they had helped clean up the event room before we left. They told my wife there were times when the rooms were wrecked and needed clean up and redecorating. Reminders they signed a rental agreement just made them leave faster. Behaviors are learned at an early age. Some Behaviors should be unlearned.

Um why didn't he clean it up, or the kids?
There are some things to take a public stand against using your reputation. This isn't one of them.

The best thing AA can do, is publish the story, and hopefully embarrass the couple.

At our old photo lab we had one room we built as a customer support room. Professional photographers from all over the world would come in and have film processed by us, as we were a Kodak Q-lab. Anyway, some would leave the room looking just like the found it, others looked like a tornado had hit with the discarded slides or film just thrown on the floor and in the general area of the large trash can we had next to the huge light table and magnifier.

One photographer from Time magazine must have owned stock in Kodak. He would shoot 40 rolls of 36 exposures in a day, sort through them all, and have maybe a dozen images he liked, the rest all over the floor. I would scan the images, and FTP them to Time for him for a fee, and he kept those few slides and left. After his first visit, we tacked on a clean up fee by jacking up the cost per roll to process the film. He only came to town for the bombing and the F5 tornadoes in Moore. We joked with him that we don't want him to ever have reason to come back.

Two things in conflict here:
Yes, it is true that she is responsible for her children and their actions, and under most circumstances should be expected to clean up the mess.

At the same time, I’m not convinced that having a pregnant woman wrangle two small children while contorting underneath those tiny seats is the best use of everyone’s time.

How about doing a little parenting and keeping the kid from making a mess in the first place?

Was she trying to make a point by cleaning it up? Was she told to clean it up?
If I drop some s##t on the floor while flying I'm not about to get down there and clean it up.
Probably first class.
There must be a third side to the story.

My apologies for the slight digression, but I didn't know until recently that kids apparently aren't supposed to have popcorn before age four.

Many years ago, I pulled into a parking lot in the Porsche. I was driving along and saw a park at the end of the row that I was driving past and pulled into that spot. There was a minivan at the opposite end of the row. As my wife was gathering up her stuff for us to get out, the minivan pulled up behind us, honked, and flipped us off. It was a soccer-mom with a young-ish (8-13, maybe) daughter in the car. I knew right then that the daughter didn't stand a chance. I can only assume the woman had seen the spot and was hoping to get it, but she was no where near it, and there was no way for me to know that she wanted it.

Presumably, he wasn't there. I got the impression that she was traveling with just the kids. Since he's a ball player, seems there was a very good chance he was somewhere else doing something else.

Right. Of course we're reading "pregnant woman" and picturing a woman at 7 months with a belly, but maybe she's only 2-3 months and not showing at all.

That, exactly.

What I got from the story is that the AA attendants asked her to clean it up. I can only assume that the mess was huge, they'd witnessed her letting the kids run wild, and she probably didn't look pregnant for her to have been asked to clean it up.

Maybe they clean it up voluntarily? I dunno.

I don't like being told what to do like I'm some kind of child, especially in public, so if that's how they treated her I sympathize with her on that.* If they politely ASKED her to clean it up that's a whole 'nother thing. She should have said, "Of course," and picked it up.

On the other hand, she shouldn't need to be told to do the right thing.

From the story, I think the guy is a whiny beotch. A woman who is 22 weeks pregnant isn't an invalid. She can pick up some popcorn.

Also, "Jessie James Decker got involved on her Instagram Story as her sister told the camera that United gave her daughter's popcorn." Huh? Gave it to whom?

* I just get my back up when someone presumes to tell me what to do. It's one of my many character flaws I guess. I don't like being like that, but a command from someone immediately raises the hair on the back of my neck. At a DE a few years ago some guy apparently didn't like where my car was parked in the paddock. He came over and said, "You WILL be moving your car."
I told him if someone politely asked me to move it I would be happy to, but otherwise it's staying right where it is. He fumed and pissed and moaned and finally got one of his friends to come over and ask me to move my car, which I did.

My son the superdad says popcorn is the #1 choking hazard among children, and way up there on the list for adults.
He's in medical research, so I trust his numbers.

So - she's a bad mom to begin with.

I got bored reading the story, I didn't see that they said 22 weeks, so 5-ish months. THat's getting up there, but often only barely showing. So yeah, it's not like she was 8 months.

What difference does it make who provided the popcorn? And surely, the ultimate decision on whether the kid got the popcorn, and whether the kid made a huge mess was still the responsibility of the adult mother.

Interesting. That's hard to imagine due to the dissolving nature of popcorn, but I believe you. I'd have expected the issue to be more due to the little hard bits that get caught between your teeth and gums.

Seems like another aspect to the story. The attendant apparently took away (or somehow got a hold of) the kid's popcorn and gave it to someone. Maybe that started the whole thing.

Probably not because that would be ridiculous.
