Most of my music listening (outside of the car) is in the garage with a simple 2 channel Yamaha receiver and LSA bookshelf speakers. I'd love to upgrade but the cost up to the next level is pretty enormous!

I found this pic showing the right side speaker location and before anyone mentions my Cayman's offroad stance, it's been lowered with Ohlins coilovers since this pic :)

I really love high quality sound reproduction with a soundstage, but I just can’t sit in a room listening to a stereo without doing something else.

I still buy CDs and upload them into iTunes without compression. I have a fairly inexpensive home stereo that feeds speakers all over the house and garage so I can listen where ever I am and what I’m doing.

On the bicycle and running, I use an iPod with the uncompressed music.

The Porsche is where I spent the money and have a very good soundstage with good reproduction or as good as reasonable in a Targa on the road. I can enjoy the “concert” while enjoying the driving. Sports cars and rock and roll- not a bad combo!

Depends on the music and mood, lights off or dimmed for serious sessions with a glass of bourbon or lights on for reading.

Funny in my cars, I usually dont use the stereo nor the a/c. Roll the windows and enjoy the engine noise!

Good thread with lot's of interesting takes. And some of the setups here are fantastic, gotta say!

I was just looking through some old photos and saw this one of my Mom and I sitting in my den as I was showing her some of my music. I believe that's an STP CD in my hand.

She and my step-dad drove over from the east coast to visit me after I bought my first home in the early 90's in Lehigh Acres (Ft Myers).

That's the room I also set up my NASHBAR roller trainer to ride my road bike while watching "The Love Connection" with Chuck Woolery, whenever I elected to ride inside rather than out.
