Practically speaking, it's probably a better bet to just get five of these. (and you don't have to go to HF)

My cars are Japanese and German so they require metric tools but I don’t recall having to need a 10 mm socket very often.

LOL! A long standing sort of joke about 10mm sockets missing. Actually, doubt I've ever lost one. Oh, my '09 Mustang is metric...not sure of the year Detroit made the switch.
Sometime during the 80's??? Anybody know?

Sort of like all those socks that vanish in some dryer vortex.

New HF opening within walking distance. I haven't been in one for 3 years. It's too convenient now. Right across the blvd from HD. That will hurt.

That 10mm set is something you need to put in a glass case, with a sign that says, break in case of emergency!

I thought I lost a 10mm socket a few weeks ago. Looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. Finally while getting my car set up for the track and packing everything up, I found it in a zip lock with another tool, in one of the totes I use for the track.

This thread inspired my idea of the day-
Redneck easter egg kit.
Prestuffed 10mm sockets in plastic easter eggs. Lay around yard for hours of fun.

The very first metric socket set that I bought in the early 70's....still has the original 10mm socket.

I must be doing something wrong.

I keep a 10mm socket in the bottom of my oil drain pain with at least two qts of old oil in there. That way I always know where it is.

By the time you lose all 10 of those things you'll have two in every car you own (one in the engine bay, one under the front seat), two in the kitchen junk drawer, one in with the kids Lego set, one in the mailbox, and one in the freezer. You'll always be within arm's length of the ubiquitous 10mm socket.

I know it is a common thing to discuss the lost 10mm socket.

I bought my first set of sockets and a wrench (Fuller brand) with two extensions in 1970 when I turned 16 and I bought my first car and I was responsible for 100% of all costs, except insurance.

I still have and regularly use them to this day. I have never lost a 10mm ever. I did break the 14mm socket when I was too lazy to get up off the floor to go get the 14mm impact socket and I used it on my air impact wrench. Just abuse on my part, and I learned a lesson and had to replace that socket.

All of my tools have the ability to transport themselves around the garage. They never leave the garage, but they can sure be found in crazy places.
