Resist the temptation
So I happened to date an Ice Skater way back in High School. Who knows what happened, but we drifted apart and I have not seen her since the early 1980's.
I always thought highly of her. Brilliant. Beautiful. Fun. Interesting. Thighs that could crack walnuts. And what should I do in my early morning coffee wake up but do a quick search on social media... Someone who was gorgeous and amazing turned into a goofy-looking cat lady - Portland Style. Some advice: Just don't. |

That's how it works sometimes my brother, people not only age, but succumb to cashing in, becoming 'old'

Resist the temptation

In college, took a girl to a formal that was the sister of a fraternity brothers GF. She was also a competitive skater. We didn’t date or go further than making out for a bit. Follow up wasn’t a strong suit for me at that time but I remember the thighs well. I also looked her up when my fraternity brother and I were reminiscing. She’s held up well. I dated a chick that was a school teacher at a private school. She was very smart, and athletic. She dumped me as I was was cash broke after buying my first house, and spending all my money of a 12.5% mortgage and utilities. She said I would never amount to anything working in the photo industry.
I bumped into her when she was my waitress at an upscale restaurant. I introduced her to my lovely wife and told her I was a business owner of an aerial photography company. I realized the best thing that she did for me was dump me back then. She had not aged well, too much tequila I suspect.

being connected on social media it is weird to see former "hot girls" from younger days age.
I will say in aggregate the girls of my younger days are aging better than me and my guy friends.

I have an ex that as of 2 years ago was living alone with 9 cats and 2 dogs. It sort of makes me sad for her.

Some never-let-it-die high school folks from my class are reaching all they can for a 60th reunion. Are you kidding? I went to 2, 10 and 20 I believe. The 20th was enough of a shocker for me. Half the guys were balding and were fat. They weren't even 40 yet. When the 30th rolled around I went to 2 pre-gatherings but didn't buy into the dinner/dance/BS awards. I saw enough to know that I was permanently disconnected. No interest in the 40 or 50. Now 60 and I bet 50 people out of 900 show up. Unfortunately as many as 25% may be dead. The main thing is by this point everyone's personality has changed. If one kept up, fine. If not, that would be a real disappointment. I don't see it any other way. |

I moved my senior year of high school, from Westport, Connecticut to Dunwoody, Georgia (just north of Atlanta). Class of 77.
I went through the entire school system in Westport, except my senior year. Never went back, until we dropped our son off at university in New Haven, CT. I went to my five year reunion for Dunwoody for an hour and left. I went with a couple of friends I graduated with. They were locals and knew everybody. Me, not so much. I’ve not kept in touch with any friends from either school, except for my best friend at Dunwoody, who passed away several years ago. I know I’ve changed, so I’m sure they have changed. Edit. Wow, it’s coming up on 50 years. |

My 50th is coming up this year. Not sure if I’m going to go or not. Based on what I have seen of most of my former classmates on Facebook, I have aged better than most of them, and that is not saying much. Not to mention, most of the people I hung out with in high school are already dead. Not sure if I would enjoy going or not.

I went to the 50th homecoming football game. It was a great game. There is no connection there anymore, hasn't been since I joined the Navy and saw the world.

I was very fortunate in my choice of parents.
About 5 years ago, a guy I went to high school passed away suddenly. Friend's sister was a sales rep who frequented the hospital. I thought she meant the father, who was also a doctor and a very old man, said as much. No, John, who apparently smoked a lot of cigarettes. It was heart breaking to see his father up there at the funeral, talking about his son, cry just thinking about it. E Everybody was so old. I guess I got clear of the first wife before she aged me too much. At our son's wedding I met his father in law for the first time. He was clearly shocked that i had been married to her. The years have not been kind to my ex wife. Now, none of the grandkids like her, which I thought was funny at first, but it is really kind of sad. I had a couple exes try and reconnect, mostly during my brief foray into facebook. Not a lot of good reasons for a former flame to look you up, even fewer to respond. Unless you are looking for trouble. Trouble finds me easy enough already. |
