I think I'm turning into the guy with the 300k mile SC.

When I first came to Pelican, I marveled at stories of guys who owned their 911 for 30-40 years. Early owner of a longhood, SC, 3.2, etc. Kept it all these decades. Guys who logged 200k or 300k miles over the years. A select few still used their 911 as their daily commuter car. During their ownership, their 911 went from flashy new sportscar to an aging oddity to a car show classic.

I find this unfolding with my BRZ. It is now 10 years old and it is my daily commuter. It is no longer a nifty new car, but was never an exotic like Porsche and I doubt it will ever be a collectible garage queen, but I have no plans to ever get rid of it. It seems to get better with age, as newer cars get more bloated with features. 2700lbs and 200hp, "They don't make 'em like this anymore"

Sometimes, I think, will I eventually have to upgrade? Parts availability? I have no desire, and the car fits like a glove and has all I need. I think I'm turning into the guy with the 300k mile SC.

Let's hear stories of long-term ownership.....past present or future!

This September, I will have owned my 911 for 30 years. It only has 186k miles on it, though (I'm responsible for 114k of those miles). I bought it in late September 1993 and did my first PCA DE in November of that same year.

I don't see me ever selling it.

I have had my 85 911 for 28 years and I will turn 190,000 on my trip home from Palm Springs next month.

I have had my 1986 El Camino daily driver for 32 years now. Before the tank of gas needs to be refilled it will have 380,000 miles. I "get" to help my wife do her annual garden for her mom this week. I get to haul a few hundred pounds of concert blocks, and other garden edging to Enid this week. I just aired up the airbags to 30 PSI to raise the rear end up, and pumped up the rear tires for 36 PSI instead of the normal 24 PSI they normally have. I keep the front tires at 36 PSI.

Both vehicles have very few parts on the car that I have not touched and replaced, or repaired or adjusted.

This spring we have been to several nurseries and garden centers for more mulch, or garden stuff for my master gardener wife. At every stop, as we are loading up, the guys loading compliment the Elky. Some random stranger offers to buy it monthly and I always reply it is not for sale for any reasonable price.

This guy stopped to say nice El Camino. His 67 SS with a 454 was a beauty.

Sold my 2014 Scion FRS about 3 years ago with 166k on the clock. Should have kept it.

I don't know if this counts - but this bike has been in the family since 1972 or so. I did a short thread on its restoration. I inherited it about 12 years ago and just "finished" it. 8k miles on the odometer but I plan on putting many more on it now.

I have owned my '78 911 for 29 years and have put about 200K on her

I have a 2017 BRZ PP that I have put about 175K on - love them both. Half the time time when shutting down or cranking up the brz I fumble around on the left side of the steering wheel before I come to my senses
