Another scooter followed me home....('90 VFR 750F Interceptor)....

Well......I'm going back Monday with trailer to bring home but she's paid for and I have title in hand.

37K on the clock, runs perfect, and in decent overall condition. $2,500 cash. Only a 20 minute drive away too, so that didn't hurt.

Interesting design aspects to this bike for those interested:

One of the petty officers had a bike like that in the mid1980s. At the time, I found it to be, astounding

NICE! Great score. Just a little early for your birthday, but that's OK.

Best
Les

I rode a couple of these back in the day. Amazing bikes, would love to have one…

greglepore 05-18-2023 03:09 PM

Wounderful bikes, but replace the voltage regulator before it strands you.

They are the perfect size for one up touring, light and tossable with just enough hp and wonderful sound.

herr_oberst 05-18-2023 03:47 PM

You should ship it up here to the PNW; Shaun is going to pick up his Ducati at the end of June and road trip it back to Mass. You guys would have a blast in the plains of Idaho/Montana/SD/Illinois etc.

I rode an Interceptor just like that for about 100 miles one Saturday morning. What a blast.

otto_kretschmer 05-18-2023 06:44 PM

Does this one have the gear driven cams? Should have a nice growl to it.

Baz 05-18-2023 07:16 PM

Thanks guys!

Cheers Les...another trip around the sun, my friend!

Thanks for the head's up, Greg! Probably already replaced, given she's over 30 years old but will check when I get her on Monday.

Oberst....thanks for the invite. Maybe next time! Staying close to home for a while, you know.

Hi Otto - yes indeed.....gear driven cams. Love the sound of these machines!

Oh - I found a video.......

Love the VFR and all of the innovations it brought to the table in its prime. Sound like a sewing machine. Typical Honda R&D. The RC31 was a head turner too, even shared the single swing arm design.

I had a 1988 Honda HawkGT for many years and even still have some body parts sitting around somewhere.

Nice find and what are your plans with her?

Cheers

Good score. A man can never have too many Hondas.

Robert Coats 05-19-2023 07:31 AM

I had a Y2K model, the VFR800, fuel-injected, linked ABS, etc. It was like dating a girl WAY out of your league who always wanted to go dancing.

Incredible score, I had a ‘92 VFR at one time but the 1990 has some unique styling and was special. Those bikes are WAY over-engineered and will go 200k miles with oil changes. As others said, make sure that it has the updated VR and you’re good to go! Nice one.

Thanks, Trev......no plans other than just to ride and enjoy her. Always nice to have one that's not a "project". Have enough of those already!

Beautiful machine, Robert! My first VFR was also yellow. An '87 700. That year's 2 factory color options were either White or Blue. Mine was a re-painted White one. A really nice job - couldn't even tell it was re-painted.

Thanks, Denis. That's what everyone says - engineered to go a long way.

I brought her home this morning and will take a closer look at her this weekend, including the VR.

I was barely able to fit her in my trailer, too! Tight squeeze!

Thanks, everyone! Safe riding all!

BTW, the seller used to road race....had a couple posters of himself hanging out in his "toy crib".

Really nice guy too!

Having had an '82 Sabre V-45, I have an inkling of what this bike must be like.

Is it ok if I hate you just a little bit?

That awesome Baz! Great score, very happy for you.

Yeah I understand the whole “done with projects” dealio.

Speaking of projects, ran across this at an antique yard.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c51755229c.jpg

Can’t beat it for $2500. These were well engineered if a little porky. I had a lot of VF experience, mainly 500 and 750, these sort of passed me by. The very first Interceptor I saw was at the Dallas Grand Prix, summer of 1984. Honda had a small pop up tent with two bikes underneath. I recall they looked like nothing else and were soon all over the roads of Texas.

greglepore 05-19-2023 04:45 PM

They are the absolute sweet spot of motorcycles. I've had faster bikes, more exotic bikes, etc etc, but nothing on earth matches the balance of a nice VFR.

Baz 05-27-2023 07:05 PM

Hey look what I just found on BAT:

14 hours left on the auction. Bike located in Illinois. Currently sitting at $3,400!
