The heat/humidity here right now is high plus we have had a LOT of rain so the soil is moist . I am 65 years old , if I leave the concrete alone it will outlive me :D . Plus the next few days it looks like we will get some showers so I am not worried . The last pic came through the Windstream anaconda  so here it is .

This project was fun and I now have some work to do to clean up the sides . The rip/rap stones will be moved next to the driveway edges where rain runoff is high to control erosion . I have raking to do to clean up previous asphalt millings and stones . Gotta hit it in small bites in the mornings as the feels like temp is currently 106 :p

You've got time on your side. The driveway isn't going anywhere soon.
That looks really nice.

$27,650, right Rick?

I think it turned out great and I know this important upgrade will pay huge dividends for you and yours over the balance of time you will reside there.

Congrats and thanks for adding the additional photos!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys . Baz the quote was for 27.5k and I paid 14k when they showed up . The job coordinator will show up sometime this week for the balance . I told him I want a lien statement that shows the concrete company has been paid . Just covering my butt .

Looks great... y'all will really enjoy the difference.

As a way to celebrate the completion and in keeping with your "as we get older" comment, I'd recommend getting a golf cart to facilitate moving (dragging?) your large rolling garbage can up and down that monster.

Could be a fun engineering project to design the hitch and a way to hook up the receptacle.

More photos!

Just did some research... no engineering required... your riding mower is also an option:

I have a John Deere X740 diesel garden tractor with a small front end loader . If I get to the point I can't roll the can I will carry it with the loader . I hope I never reach that point .

Great idea! A good friend had a house built years ago, nice place. He got served with a legal summons a while after the house was done. The issue was the actual builder stiffed the lumber company so the lumber company came after my buddy for the materials cost (which he had already paid for to the builder), it was quite a large sum as I recall. I don't recall how it was finally settled but the lesson I learned was to pay the supplier myself, that way I knew the materials were paid for. Nice project by the way, looks great!

I hope to see video of your first drive up the new driveway.

Ha too late , at 11 AM yesterday my wife did the maiden voyage in her Volvo suv . An hour later Kong my 4x4 extended cab dually followed . Later this afternoon both Porsche's will head out for some exercise . It's all good 👍.

looks great. Nothing like fresh concrete…

Today I picked up about 4000 lbs of rip rap stones . Going to use these for erosion control . Between the stones and my dually was about 11,500 lbs . I was certainly nervous as I drove on the new driveway . Fortunately no issues .

I took out both Porsche's today for some exercise 😁 . Happy to report I can now exit and enter with no scraping of the lower spoiler lip 👍 .

This morning our propane carrier showed up to fill our tank . We always take advantage of summer sale prices . We were the first stop so he had 3000 gallons of propane on his single axle dually rig .

He had to back up about 60 ' up the driveway to be able to reach our tank . I am happy to report the driveway held up fine . Another milestone behind us 😁
