I recently mounted one of the 100 second Element extinguishers in my 911. I hear great reviews, and they are not very expensive.

Of all the celebrities on the planet, Jay Leno is the one I want to meet. I would love to hang out at his place for a while.

Steve, thanks for posting that link, really enjoyed reading it..

The one part of the McLaren F1 history I'm most proud of is it was the 1st time a car manufacturer won on the 1st attempt and the last race car built from a road car to win the Le Mans 24hrs

I designed this roll cage for the 1997 long-tail GTR

All designed before 3D CAD so we used welding rods to mock up the tube angles

I went extreme on the lightweighting, one of the less loaded tubes we had centreless ground down to a thickness of 0.9mm

My 1st and last ever roll cage, the car won GT1 class and came 2nd overall at the 1997 Le Mans 24hrs

I had a similar experience with Jay at a C & C one Sunday morning at Paradise Cove, near L.A. I was looking at a Bentley hot rod, done in the '50's California style, of all things.

As I was pondering how the Bentley Owner's Club might react to such a car, I remember looking at the huge Bentley brake drum that appeared to have a disc brake hidden inside. Behind me I heard the unmistakable voice, "Hi, I'm Jay. Can't figure out the brakes, huh?" This led to a 20-minute walk around, opening all the doors, hood (massive twin turbo Bentley straight 8), trunk, tool kit, etc.

We talked at great length about the engineering & fabrication that went into the car.
What a fun experience to spend a few minutes with such an interesting guy.

Sorry but to us mere garage mechanics mortals that is like hearing Rod Stewart say "my favorite super model wife was"

Love Jay Leno and I never found him even a bit funny

Car guy score: 10/10
decent human score 11/10
Comedian score: 4/10

2 out of 3 is good enough for me, he got the important one right anyways. Vinwiki has been pretty good lately as well. Must take Ed quite a bit of effort to ensure a decent story everyday

In one of his videos on his Jay Leno's garage site he talks about two large "biker looking dudes" with long hair and beards asking about his McLaren F1 and asking good questions. Jay asked them if they wanted a ride. They of course accepted readily. As they went through a tunnel or underpass he punched the throttle to hear the engine and give them some fun. As he came out, there was a cop running radar. Jay said here he is with two guys that look like biker gang members and he was going a "tad" over the limit. As the cop walked up, both of his passengers pulled out badges. They were undercover cops. No tickets, and just happy smiles all around.

I agree. Never liked Jay back in the day. Never really watched his standup so cant comment on that though I hear he is/was funny. His late night show, never liked it. I was a Letterman guy I guess

But Jay the car guy? Seems to be once of the nicest down to earth people on the planet.

I watch all his appearances here as well
