Picked up a 914 Bumblebee last summer. It has been mostly sitting for the last 15 years. Front suspension refresh and new fuel and vacuum lines, address a slight oil leak, etc. Everything is easier with the engine out.

My ongoing Rat Rod project. 1956 Chevy loooooong bed / step side channeled over a modified 1976 Surburban frame. Original front and rear bumpers, tailgateoutside mirrors, etc. It has a narrowed truck 12 bolt - 3:73 gears, custom ( soft ) rear leaf springs with Caltrac setup. Bilstein shocks, Addco sway bar. 4- wheel power disc brakes, Thunderbird power rack, etc, etc
All new OE tinted glass, power windows, hidden sound system, '56 Belair steering wheel, tilt column, 1960 International tractor lever on a ratchet shifter. I'm getting ready for the machine work: BBC 454, aluminum heads, etc ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

For those of you who remember the Group B Rally Cars from the '80s.
This was an obscure model - Mazda 323 GTX, only 1200 sold in the US, probably less than 1/2 that number exist today. Quite expensive in 1988 (over $15k). Anyway, the owner died, car was rotting in his back yard in Dallas, I bought it out of his estate and started going to town. Re-commissioning a car that has sat for 10-years outside is a lot of work. Before: And after:

Thanks guys, I appreciate it, it was a ton of much work, I wondered about half way through if the juice was worth the squeeze. I even had to make suspension bushings on my lathe as nothing is available aftermarket or from Mazda.
@Scott Douglass - No dry ice, all done by hand, sanding by hand with traditional sandpaper and then painting combined with powder coating.

Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....
