I have always admired your 29 Hot Rod, YP.

Come what may, nicely done!

Stance and sidewalls.
The '29 has it in spades. A very straight car, and not a hotrod you see at every event.

thanks guys. I'm not sure I could let it go, I have some guys wanting it. So I have to be careful what I say and do. If it doesn't feel right, I'll keep it.

Trade for a wooden helicopter project?

Some assembly is required…

All of the hard work is done.

Every special car I've ever owned and sold I've regretted later on.

Your car is very special!

Are the mooneyes watching out for the kids or keeping tabs on the spirits?

Either way, that's a fantastic picture! Fantastic!!

Is there anything more adorable, and cool, than a granddaughter who's car guy? Not really. I'd ask her about keeping the car and if there's a car project she'd like to help on if you do sell it.

Seriously, why would you sell it?

It looks like you use it, it looks like you enjoy it, your grand daughter seems to.

Unless you need the money or have nowhere to keep it, I’d be hanging on to and giving it to her when she’s 16. That will happen sooner than you think.

Raising kids is long days and short years.

Great car, and it does look like you use it. Why would you even consider selling it?

That is a car you give to one of your grandchildren, family heirloom deal.

Sell it? Come on man

I have a friend that has a '32 Ford Vicky that he bought when he was 14. He still has it and he's 80. He built it and drove it to high school when he got a license. After a few years he built it again, but still the same flathead motor. After many years of that he took it apart again and it sat in pieces for years in storage. When he retired he got it out and started building it for the 3rd time, new paint, wiring, redone motor with all trick flathead stuff, period parts only, new rear end, the works. He and another painted it right there in the garage and it could be finished any day. But IDT he wants to finish the last of it because he would have nothing further to do. Other projects he has are too arduous for his age and time. So he tinkers every day and it creeps to the day he might start it and drive it.

He has 2 sons, both very successful. One is a doctor. The other in top management. Neither will have anything to do with the Vicky and have been very fair in saying they just don't have that gene. So, my friend should sell it but he doesn't need the money. It is his whole life, or at least that particular whole part of his life. He knows or knew every significant hot rodder that ever worked in CA or in nearby states, and some beyond. The car should go to the Peterson, but I really don't know the plan.

All I know is he is supremely disappointed that his sons are not going forward with it. It will stay right there center stage in his 4 car garage until he steps out of the garage for the last time.

That is a sad, sad story to know. I drop in on him now and then and it makes me sad. He had one of the biggest Coke memorabilia collections I have seen outside Atlanta. He has been selling it off for 10 years bit by bit, so he can get rid of things. He puts the money in the Ford so he doesn't touch his nut which is substantial.

He can sell off, but not the Vicky.

Good to read this, YP.

My dad had a '32 Ford we called the Boodle Buggy. He'd put a '48 Merc flathead in it. Mom made him leave it back east when we moved out west. She wasn't about to drive cross country with mechanical brakes.
We, my brother and I, always used to kid Dad about just leaving the car behind. I think now we both know it probably killed him to do it.This is the only picture I've got of it.
