Anyone had Reflux/GERD surgery?

I've been dealing with Reflux/GERD for probably 30 years. I moved from medicine to medicine starting with Zantac and ending up with Nexium as each prior one lost effectiveness. The Nexium has worked great for probably 10 years or more. Recently it hasn't been working and I have an upper endoscopy and gastro consult coming up. My primary care doc moved me to Protonix. I'm on day 3 of that and am in wait and see mode. Hopefully it will help.

Every gastro doc I've talked to has told me the surgical options are not great but that last consult was several years back.

Has anyone had a Fundoplication or LINX procedure and if so, how were the results?

Sorta…

I had issues for years and had began choking on food.

I had tried Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate - it did nothing.

We then did Barium Swallow and imaging.

We ran in with a scope and the doc said all was good except that I had a nodule in my throat which they removed. I was then put on Dexilant. Everything has been perfect since.

We did a follow up scope during Covid and everything was great.

On my recent heart related hospitalization, they changed up my Dexilant to Milan-Pantoprazole Magnesium. All good so far.

No surgery, but like you have dealt with GERD for 30 plus years. Prilosec has been my savior for that time. However, what has really saved me is not eating after 3 pm. Took me a while to figure this out but it changed the game for me.

I hope you find a solution you can live with that is short of surgery..
