Or looking at it another way, if your product line/profits are a one trick pony, you have three choices: pass the full costs on to the people who are buying that product, spread the compliance to costs over a diversified product line or stop riding that pony.
Fiat Chrysler have lots of interesting and fuel efficient vehicles they might consider bringing to the North American market, but they do not enjoy the greatest reputation, earned or not.

yeah, Chrysler, as usual has only themselves to blame. they seem to think the company can survive on demon powered minivans and other stupidity. grabs headlines, doesnt sell cars. it turns out you have to sell cars to be a car company.

the challenger/charger are still running on a mid 1990s Mercedes E class chassis for example. what a joke of a car company.

They are on a 90s platform the same as the new Yamaha Tenere is based on the 1985 XT600.

The lineage has gone from the pre-historic iron Mastodons to the modern Pachyderm.

Really miss the smell of leaded gasoline but every once in while I find myself behind a 60's muscle car that is not running rich. The smell is say sweeter.

The older Porsche flat 6 was a HEMI. Not sure about the newer ones.

There's hemis and then there's hemis....................

Even though the v8 Hemi engines might be a thing of the past, the new engines could still be a hemi design. My 3.3SS twin plug engine is such an example.

Hemi = hemispherical heads. They haven’t been able to get them to meet emissions standards. Yes, the old flat six Porsches were Hemis actually, as were some Lotus engines at one time.

Outside of flatheads and lawn mower engines most engines of two valve design are hemispherical in nature, ovalspherical, half round, almost-half round, C shape, D Shape etc. The French came up with the Penta or Pent roof design in 1911 for the Indianapolis 500 utilizing the four valve design.

Call it what you will but a dome is still a dome. Domesphere just doesnt roll off the tongue so great. Sometimes the marketing departments were smart.

In an odd move Chrysler replaced the Fratzog with the Pentastar. Maybe one day we will have a Hemistar?

You couldn't be more wrong. Other than being twin plugged, the modern Hemi combustion chamber is remarkably similar to the original 331, 354, 392, and 426 Hemi combustion chamber.

426 Hemi head:

Modern Hemi head:

I heard it was not viable because of emissions. Looks like a "semi hemi" is. Tks for the correction.

On an unrelated note, there’s this guy.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=7uO-4d_eioo&feature=share

I wouldn’t be upset to hear that he turned himself into a red smear on bridge abutment somewhere.

Sorry to be so picky, but as a former drag racer who really geeks out on this stuff (and a huge MOPAR fanatic), I feel like a quick rundown on combustion chamber and head design might be in order.

Those are true Hemi heads. Both the older one shown and the new one. Ford and Chevy both ran "semi hemi", or "canted valve", or "twisted hemi" designs. Chevy big blocks (396, 427, and 454) and 429 Fords (the 351 Cleveland was similar, in a small block package).

Here is Chevy's version:

Here is Ford's version:

Notice the valves are neither straight across from one another, nor are their stems parallel to one another. Hence the "twisted hemi" moniker.

Here is a typical "wedge" head. This one is a big block MOPAR, but small block Chevs, small block Fords (along with their 427 "FE" series), small block MOPARs, and many other V-8's used this layout. The valves sit next to one another, and their stems are parallel. Easy to manufacture, but really sucks for flow.

There's nothing quite like a couple of Hemi Super Stock cars at the drag strip. I prefer them over even Top Fuelers. This was a few years back at Beech Bend
