Last night somebody on the next road had a blast. Its probably 2 miles away and on the other side of a mountain but it shook the house and lit up the whole sky for an hour or so. I guess they had too much money

Back when we were young and stupid, we would hold a bottle rocket in our hand, light it, and then throw it. Most of the time it would just shoot off in another direction but, once in a while it would come back at the thrower! Did that cause us to stop? Heck no. We laughed and lit another one.

I temporarily moved to Long Beach I now reside at the corner of Magnolia and Wardlow. Every night around 8:00 I hear fireworks rumbling in the disance, is the Queen Mary doing fireworks? |
Guess I'm more hood adjacent. No mortars this holiday but from the sounds a significant amount of "lead rain" as we call it. Never had evidence of direct fire, knock on wood.

I liked making lots of obnoxious noise

We are camping up in N Idaho at Priest Lake and it is usually quieter than at home fireworks wise. Not this year. BIG boomers going last night and it was only the 2nd. Found one of my dogs outside the trailer this morning at 7am. She slept in a tent, or was supposed to, with my 14 year old granddaughter. She may have been out there for 5 minutes or 8 hours. She's getting a nice talking to this morning or afternoon.:mad: The kid not the dog. Whenever she decides to make an appearance. Which may be around 2pm.

We live 1.75 away from an amusement park as the crow flies, or the fireworks sounds go. All we hear is the distant booms and thunder like sounds. Our dogs grew up hearing it most of the the summer every year.
We also have a large private university about a mile away. They on occasions, like the 4th will have a show. I can see it from my front porch arching over the tops of the trees. The good news is the family in our neighborhood that had adult sons come home to fire off fireworks on the 4th have left. We just took a strawberry pie over to the new neighbors to introduce ourselves. They seem like a nice couple. I mostly love the fact the adult sons that smoked like machines on the back porch will not be stinking up the neighborhood anymore. |
