Fireworks

Since the holiday is Tuesday I think this weekend is going to be as loud each night. It started last night. I call it noise masturbation. I came up with that phrase after watching some George Carlin videos. Carlin certainly knew a lot about people.

People don't know a lot about anything. But they sure know how to jack off their noisy pleasure. You have to think about a person like that. I'm not talking sparklers here.

People around here are pricks, pricks who apparently have lots of money to burn.

Flying and exploding fireworks are illegal here in MN, but no way to enforce and WI is real close for people to give their money to.

I can understand a couple hours on the fourth right as it gets dark, but holy crap, every weekend and even some weekdays before and after. Occasionally a few will come to from their drunken stupor and light them up at 3:00am or something.

People have no respect for their neighbors or compassion for pets.

Not to mention those with PTSD. We just medicate the cat. No, not with THC. :D

I have one neighbor that shoots off aerials / rockets and lets all of the debris fall into our pond. He never cleans up and responds rather negatively to requests to protect the water.

Around here the first response is “fireworks or gunshots?” cause, it’s TX, and could be either and often enough is so it’s not even a stupid question.

In my community fireworks are verboten unconditionally.

Spoon discharge, conditionally OK.

I used to live on 5 acres on an Indian Reservation 2 miles from "boom city" on the Rez.

I'd see people leaving with 2 or 3 arm filling grocery sack bags of explosives, $$$$$$$ worth.

They had Soccer Balls full of Silver Nitrate, tennis balls, M-80's and larger.

Sounds to me as if the one time more or less "safe and sane" fireworks are a thing of the past. Kids and parents used to gather outside and someone would have a few pinwheels; that sort of thing. Roman candles that spewed out colors was about as much as you were gonna get out of the 'family pack'. Nothing left the ground.

Some older kids always had some firecrackers they probably bought in Chinatown with a wink and a smile. IDT cops were too concerned. But nowadays the younger a-holes on my street manage to shoot full on mortars that will go 100 feet up. Some are even 2 stage. Nothing like pro fireworks but damn loud. These are adults with children.

I like to try and be friendly in the general neighborhood although I seem to take a George Carlin view on most people. A couple of times I have gone down there and really gotten in their face and they calm down. One day one of them is gonna call my bluff and knock my dick in the dirt. At least I'll collect on the civil suit.
In my city they set up a website you can upload video to. They promise to eventually come around to every address where anyone can be clearly recognized on camera. The deal is to hold the property owner responsible for the fine even if they are not present as in the case of a rental.

We'll see what happens if you go out and point your camera at someone who is half drunk and masturbating his noise. IDK, if someone was taking pics of me with the idea of doing me no good I might just be like them and break the friggen phone. Gotta think like the enemy. And I kinda go with the idea that is a risk you take if behaving that way.

Shooting guns is stupid. A girl got killed sitting on her couch when a bullet came down through the roof. Maybe she was in a patio. Anyway, no one caught.

In Los Angeles there are plenty of gunshots. Waste of good ammo. Going outside is risky at times especially as it gets later.

I've never had a hard on for fireworks. My dad lost an eye to fireworks when he was 12. You know we damn well didn't have any at our house. I'm not sure what he thought of the neighbors. He usually had 3 martinis in him so he probably didn't give a crap.

The irony is that my dad had an advertising agency. He had to be the character they based Don Draper on in Mad Men. Watching that show was reliving my childhood. One of his biggest accounts was Red Devil Fireworks.

You can't make that siht up.

I'll be the 1st to admit, I love blowing things up, but I am doing this and encouraging others to do the same.

As I sit here eyeballing not quite 3 pounds of black powder, knowing there is 10' of cannon fuse for sale a 20 minute drive away, it is taking quite a lot of self control to be a Good Boy.

Will probably drop 90gr down my shotgun barrel and put like 4 or 5 wads down the tube for pressure and pop that off if I really wanna make noise....

That or I'll meet up with my buddy and his machine gun collection....

All of this sounds like fun, I have a friend with a cannon as well.
But since I live in town, I can't have the fun I want to (well, I could but I am respectful of my neighbors).

Tell your friend that Grafs has black powder in stock and no hazmat fee if you order $150+

Kiddo (10yo girl) loves sparklers - we're happy with those and we'll let the pros do the rest.

I've never seen the point of lighting wads of my cash on fire in seconds, but then again I'm not the most exciting guy. I've also spent plenty of time around real explosives so I know a "kerplewie" from a "sparkleyfizzypoofy". And - depending on what metals you're also shooting (uranium for example) you get a fireworks show as well.

Last fourth of July we were at the Sheraton far atop the hill between Lakewood and Golden CO. It was cool to see all of the local displays across most of Denver, including one close to the hotel. What blew me away was the hundreds of thousands of dollars the "citizens" were popping off everywhere. Spending 1/5000 of that at the manky mex joint on drinks was far more pleasurable...

Think of fireworks as
"Get even with the inconsiderate neighbors who let their dogs bark all night" - night!

That said, my fascination for firecrackers and bottle rockets faded away about 40 years ago. If I'm in the mood for loud noises I have my Carrera with the B&B exhaust or this:

but I have to go to the range to hear the 45 LC.

Hate fireworks for the most part. The big ones are OK, but I think it should be outlawed for private citizens. Ha...baa humbug.

What is the intended purpose for Tannerite ?
