Ouch!

This has happened to me before...but not this bad.

Biking the rural roads in the morning yesterday wearing loose leg fitting cargo shorts...all of a sudden I felt sharp needles on the back of my left upper thigh. A bee had been trapped and stung me multiple times. (maybe more than one bee.)

Last night I woke up with my leg in bad pain. It was red in about the size of a footprint on my hamstring. All day long today it's been hurting..almost like a skin cut.

It's feeling a little better tonight. I wonder how many times I got stung.

If I had been wearing a full lycra biking suit I would have probably not been stung.

Ouch, that sucks a lot!

I don't think it could have been a bee. Bees have barbed stingers that pull out their internal organs. THey can only sting one time then they die. Wasps can sting multiple times.

I suppose it's possible that there may be some sort of bee that stings multiple times, but I've never heard of one.

I didn't get a chance to see if it was one or more, or if it was a wasp. The size of the redness makes me think it was more than one sting.

The loose legs on the shorts are like 'air scoops' that take in any bees or wasps and the upper hamstring area is a tender spot.

If you were wearing a full lycra suit you'd have a 6 pack of Bud Lite by your bum.

Try two things for some relief...

It sounds wacky, but some dishwash liquids like one keeps by the sink, if rubbed on the site of the sting/s, can help.

There are many 'rails to trails' around here and I laugh everytime I see a biker in full lycra.

It's now almost 2 days since and it's feeling a lot better....beer helps.
I'm just glad that bee stings don't cause an allergic reaction with me.

I'll make note of that, but I bet the dish liquid would've worked better... plus, I just can't imagine wasting a good libation that way.

Totally tttttriggered here. Y'all need to correct yaself quick you ignant fool.
Don't ever say "Bee" again!

Honeybees (aka "bees") sting only once.
Their stinger has barbs so any sting pulls the guts out of the insect, and then it dies. One use only.

Honey bees are at a very low this year.

They are the main pollinators of most crop production and have to be artificially re-introduced across the country every singe year.
(crop production = the inexpensive food you buy at the supermarket).
Monsanto herbicides and GMO seeds affect nature on earth and what we serve on the table in many different ways.
Monsanto has sued small farmers into bankruptcy, using plant-trademark laws, for having their own crops corrupted by pollen.
I once heard Monsanto had raided a farm which found out they had RoundUp-Ready resistant bees. Cops came in a took everything.

(edit: sorry for the small tangent rant)

Another suggestion: Campho-Phenique..little green bottle, oil of camphor, I believe. Wet a cue tip, dab on sting. For insect stings and bites...You can thank my mom for the tip. Ask a pharmacist...may not be on the shelf. Pain relief plus disinfects. I believe it can neutralize the insect venom a bit.

I might have to get some for times like this.
Is Benadryl a lotion or a pill?

You can get it pill or cream. I keep both in stock. Cream helps on itchy skeeter bites.
