Pelican - Sooo Sloooowwwww

Anyone else notice that Pelican is really slow to react/load to clicks?

Other pages are loading fine for me.

Pelican website/forum slow to upload

Pelican website/forum slow to upload?
Brutally slow loading the last couple of days.
I've actually had to do some work while waiting!
Just me?

masraum 07-07-2023 10:54 AM

No, absolutely not. Blazing fast!

It's been bad for a couple few days and getting worse every day.

Pelican forum/website slow to upload

Geez

stevej37 07-07-2023 11:15 AM

It's slow uploading and downloading here.
I'm using Chrome....I thought that might be the problem?

Seahawk 07-07-2023 11:22 AM

The slowest merge of threads in the history of the interwebs...

911 Rod 07-07-2023 11:25 AM

I can't even click on my own thread!

Admin's on other sites have reported a "data center" issue.
We'll never know going forward, its the Internet.

Zeke 07-07-2023 01:09 PM

20 seconds to see this thread after clicking on it. I expect the same when I hit 'post'.

1 1/2 minutes for the post to appear. Waited 40 seconds after hitting edit to add this info. I'll leave it at that and leave for the rest of the day.

stevej37 07-07-2023 01:30 PM

I wouldn't expect any fix before Monday afternoon.

JackDidley 07-07-2023 01:37 PM

Works for me, just like back when I had dial up.

Steve Carlton 07-07-2023 01:42 PM

Which Monday?

sc_rufctr 07-07-2023 01:45 PM

I'm sure someone is working on the issue.

Meanwhile... (Image upload seems super fast)

Remember that list of sites in bold font that used to show up beneath the reply window?

It has recently gotten pretty long and in the past, the site would slow down substantially when it was long, but it's not there now.

Here's a B&W photo of a pedal car to help us all feel better until the webmaster gets the speed back up to where it should be:

pwd72s 07-07-2023 02:34 PM

Slower than dial-up. Even slower than watching a game of one pocket pool. One pocket is so slow, the stream could freeze and those watching won't notice.

stevej37 07-07-2023 02:41 PM

My Radio Shack Color Computer was faster...lol

To think someone actually thought this was a good idea... :(

VenezianBlau 87 07-07-2023 03:20 PM

I wish this were a paid forum so I could complain...
edit: it's just the forum pages that are slow for me

pete3799 07-07-2023 03:26 PM

Been super slow for a few weeks now. Thought it was just me.

Jeff Higgins 07-07-2023 04:22 PM

It's gotten worse since this morning, but not just slower. I have responded in a couple of threads, and a few guys have responded after me, but the "last post" column in the page that shows all of the threads is not updating anymore.

Edit: Wow, just as I posted this, it appears the forum id "back to normal". The "last post" column now shows the last post and has stacked them in order of last response again, and it appears to be up to full speed again.

masraum 07-07-2023 04:26 PM

Yep, seems to have improved greatly!

Sometimes things "break" and the sponsor doesn't know that they've broken unless we say something. And sometimes folks wonder "Is it just me or is it everyone?" because that can happen with the Internet too.

stevej37 07-07-2023 04:28 PM

I was beginning to wonder if this was the Pelican Parts Purge.

sc_rufctr 07-07-2023 04:40 PM

Seems faster right now.

Could not log on for a long time today, got a lot more work done, and have you seen the weather?

Going to see a softball tournament tomorrow in the cosmopolitan city of Elk Grove, signs point to top being down

Usually I assume it's my declining faculties in old age; like when my failing camera on iPhone took ever blurry pics. Humbling...

Any way, they changed the post edit page as I use that one often!

A930Rocket 07-07-2023 07:16 PM

I don’t think I was on PPOT earlier today, but it’s working normal now, on my iPhone. That said, there are days where it times out. And then I think, what the hell am I going to do now!😂

Steve Carlton 07-07-2023 07:42 PM

Think of it as being on the roller coaster at Carowinds. We just finished chugging up to the top of the highest drop off. We're speeding up now. Everything is good.

juanbenae 07-07-2023 08:02 PM

i laughed some when it was loading slow today wondering who here would do the panicked "it's broke" post...

juanbenae 07-07-2023 08:15 PM

here ya go....

is pelican the mama pig, or the cold galvanized rack?

sc_rufctr 07-07-2023 08:48 PM

The grate? ;)

masraum 07-13-2023 04:37 AM

Is it just me, or are we stuck in the molasses again?

<edit>

Funny, I'd been experiencing slowness for the past hour. Searching for this thread took several minutes. Then the response to this thread and subsequent clicks has been speedy.

Baz 07-15-2023 03:26 AM

A little gummy earlier but now seems to be back to normal.....

911 Rod 07-20-2023 08:21 AM
